Not trying to be smart but if you know you have a problem why would you even book this type of cabin? There is a time when inconvenience outweighs cost....just MHO

Darn shame we really can't afford a better cabin...and I don't want to ruin it for the rest of my family because of my mental incapacity...once I reach air I can usually talk myself down...it stinks..it's really mental..I promise to wear something that resembles "real" clothes!!!:D

I have went out of the room (in the middle of the nite) for air/etc. wearing lounge pants, a tee or tank, flip flops, & sometimes a hoodie/track jacket if it's breezy out.

I, too, suffer from insomnia. I am not claustrophobic, but I just have problems sleeping from time to time. Usually a Tylenol PM, some hot chocolate/soothing hot tea, and a book do the trick for me to get "sleepy" again.

I have also worried about waking/disturbing my hubby -- so I keep the flips/hoodie easily accessible and just wear the tee/tank and loounge pants that I went to bed in. (I usually wear cotton/knit lounge or yoga pants or capris to sleep in)

During my nite strolls, I have encountered a few others dressed the same.

Well, I have seen numerous women doing that early in the morning. They actually have their nightgown on and then put a robe over it. What they do is go up on the lido deck and have their coffee/smokes, etc. for an hour or so and then go back to their cabin to shower and get ready for the day! It really doesn't bother me, if it doesn't bother them! Like someone else said, that is more clothes than some are wearing during the day! To each his own!

The fact that you're walking to get a cup of tea in jammies will not cause any fellow passengers pain, inconvenience or harm in any way so my opinion is go right ahead.

It's nice of you to ask, it shows your a considerate person but what I've found is that being nice and considerate usually brings out answers from people who's opinions shouldn't matter to you anyway. People who somehow believe they are above most but in reality are not.

Rule of thumb I use, will I hurt someone with my actions? Will I cause harm in anyway? Will I hurt someones feelings? If not, life's too short to worry about the rest.

Live and let live.

After reading all these replies, it appears that opinions are split on this matter. It is probably safe to say that if the OP does wear jammies and slippers to find hot tea during the night and is observed, half of the folks who see her will not approve and half won't care one way or the other.

I would tend to be on the more conservative side because passengers on cruise ships represent many cultures and some of those cultures would find the wearing of bedroom attire in public would be outrageous.

If one does decide to wear jammies at night for a hot tea trip, don't be surprised if one does receive some nasty looks. Of course, maybe no one will look at all.

Thanks for the advice everyone...there were a few who seemed a little angry...

You're going to get some... um... "strong opinions" here from time to time. :)

There are so many "lounge pants" and "yoga pants" out there that are light and comfy, yet don't look like pajamas... why not try some of those and a tank top or t-shirt? I got some gray ones at Target that you'd never know came from the sleepwear section. They look like something to wear to the gym.

I've seen people wearing slippers around occasionally, and never thought it was weird. :)

I could never do an inside cabin. I'd be climbing the walls from claustrophobia.

I feel your pain.

I tend to get insomnia too. Once I did get up while my family was sleeping and went down to the casino bar to get a ginger ale. But I did change first. My suggestion would be to have a comfy outfit (sweats, etc.) available in the bathroom so you have a place to change without waking your family. I put a small flashlight by my pillow so I can get up in the middle of the night, if needed (or for doing a little reading). Since we're in inside cabins, we often leave the light on in the bathroom and keep the door ajar for those "necessary visits."

Oh for Pete's sake. As long as you're decent who cares? I'll even join you. :)

I've seen far worse at the pool than a pair of pjs and a robe. As a matter of fact, in many cases the pjs would be an improvement.

Hey, it's in the middle of the night, most people are asleep so I say go for it! I would not have one problem with it.

It's a LOT better than seeing half naked people at the pool all day.

THAT HAS A POCKET for your room key. Don't forget that, as you will definitely wake the family if you forget that!

You might consider packing a little bag before you go to bed - room key, bottle of water, book ...?
