We are reserved for our 3/21 Ruby Princess sailing & are concerned due to recent news regrarding crime in Mexico. Is it safe? I also heard the drive to club is scary? Is that the drive from main road or to the club?

Did we make a mistake?

the drive is fine

driving through town, the taxi keeps slow...as it gets to the highway, they drive a little different then you might at home. the taxi drivers don't like the scooters that drive slow on the main highway lane (they have a special lane for scooters). you have scooters in the wrong lane and tourists in rental cars driving slow..other then a lot of honking, it's fine...plus it's not that long. it was 20 mins for us. it's a big 4 lane highway with scooters lanes on the sides.

cozumel is beautiful, very tourist friendly and NOT part of the problems the mainland is having.

We didn't have any problems with taxi's in cozumel. When you get off the port there is a shopping area that you walk through and by the entrance outside of the port there was a guy sorting and diirecting eveyone which taxi to take. He was in charge of getting the taxi's to pull up. Our taxi driver was very nice and it was about 15 minutes or so to Nachi Cocum. On the way back our waiter called a taxi and it was there in about 5 minutes when we were ready to go. I miss Nachi Cocum!

  • 4 weeks later...
I have a quick question about getting to this resort. We have a family of six, 2 adults and 4 children. Do you know if they offer a larger 'shuttle type' vehicle for larger groups?

Thanks!

they have mini-van taxis for larger groups...the person at the taxi stand will call one if one isn't in line already. the price is a little higher (don't remember), they have a sign with prices broken up by resort and number in your party, it's a set price.

Muchas Gracias! :D

We were there last Thursday 19th March. The taxis were great, well organized and flat rate fares. We went to Nachi which is about a 15 minute ride and it was fine. No working seatbelts or air conditioning but all the windows were down and it was comfortable. On the way out our party of 8 split into 2 cabs but we had a van on the way back. The road is big with a median for part of the way.

If it was like home it wouldn't be much of a vacation!
