ppwlee Posted March 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 1, 2009 Hi, My wife and I are thinking of booking the Pearl in Fall (pacific coast, vancouver to LA). We are totally new to cruise and have looked at Deck8, with balcony rooms, is there such thing as a good cabin location? How do we know which to choose? Thanks in advance. bakerintn Posted March 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 1, 2009 Personal preference will always rule, but my suggestion is deck 9 or 10, Port Side. Why? Deck 8 Balconies are all forward, 9 & 10 have them mid ships and aft. Forward is more motion, but going southbound, the pitching motion should be much less than going northbound. Port side will see the coastline; starboard will give you sunsets. Deck 8 is above several public areas. General advice is to look at the decks above and below where you are selecting to see what will be above you or below you (basically for possible noise issues) the "blank" spaces without names that you see on the deck plans are work areas for the crew. Arwenmark Posted March 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2009 The most coveted cabins seem to be those on the Stern of the ship but it really depends on what you prefer and not having cruised you don't know that. You will get more movement at the Bow or the Stern but some like to see the wake of the ship from their cabin. Being at the Rear of the ship you are a ways from some things but then you are always a ways from SOMETHING.
4 cruisers Posted March 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 2, 2009 Hi, My wife and I are thinking of booking the Pearl in Fall (pacific coast, vancouver to LA). We think closer to aft is closer to the buffet and the great outdoors. It's great to take your lunch or snacks down to your cabin (especially if you have a balcony, of course!;)). If you like to gamble, the casino is forward. Center is good for java cafe/bar and specialty restaurants. It just depends on what your favorite things to do are! Love the Pearl and we're on the sailing you're considering!!!!!!!!!!!
