Deck or Beach Bag.

After the past cruises I have been on, I have taken a different style beach bag every time and I have yet to come up with the "perfect" bag for me on deck. I think I may have found it but won't truly know until my b2b in September.

Maybe in the mean time someone else might be able to use my idea. At the grocery stores in the wine section there is the re-usable bags that come free when you purchase bottles of wine. Mine I have found at Kroger it is blue kind of short and stout and has 6 sleeve pockets on the inside for the bottles of wine. I am thinking 6 sleeve translates into 6 pockets for holding my lido deck goodies.

1. Suntan lotion

2. Sunglasses (when not on top of my head)

3. Water bottle

4. Flip Flops once i get set into my chair

5. Ipod or mp3 player with headphones

6. Room Key

1. is always loose in my regular bag and slippery from the "oil" and seems to get my bag messy.

2. Other than on my head i can never find them in my bag without putting finger prints all over them digging into my regular bottomles bags.

3. Perfect size to keep my bottle upright and available. Probably a water bottle cozie would fit around it as well.

4. That one flip flop always seems to wind up way under my chair or 3 chairs over when Im looking for it at the end of the day.

5. No scratches on my ipod and the cord is not wound around everything else.

6. Room key handy for the DOD. (if you get it key punched in the casino and put the stretch key chain on it you can always hook this to the handle too and drop it down into the pocket.. this way it will be even handier to grab. Also in this pocket you can put your free deck of cards you got from the pursur desk.

I also believe your towel could sort of lay on top off all of these items and velcro the handle over it to hold it in place...

Make sure to email me if anyone tries this or thinks of another twist to put on it.

This sounds perfect. I didn't know that you could get a free bag with wine purchases at Kroger. I always by my wine there and haven't noticed a free bag. Where are they located? This sounds like the ideal bag for the deck. Thanks for sharing this bit of information. I will be checking Kroger on my next visit.

How about loading the bag up as you described above and taking a picture and posting it here?

I tried finding a picture of this type of bag online - is this close?

(It is described as having the six pockets but maybe yours is shorter?)

(Don't be surprised if this is moved to the fashion board.:))

ok first picture.. it the actual front of the bag and the handle is smaller than normal reusable bags.. kind of making it for a shorter not so hangy bag when u carry it.. but at the same time would be tough to put on your shoulder.. much easier to just carry in hand.

2nd picture iput a can of pringles in it so you could get a feel for how tall it is.. about the height of the can ...

That looks like a great idea! Have you found a great style of bag to carry to port for excursions and such? I keep looking for just the right bag. Any ideas. Love your deck bag idea.

Judy

not as of yet ;(. We usually only shop in port and dont do much of anything else... so i defintely would want one with big enough loops to put over shoulder... i seriously thing the backpack in port is the way to go .. especially if say u r doing beach and shopping... we shop small so i can even get away with not taking a bag...

you know its hot and who wants something hanging off their shoulder etc.. but im thinkikng this may be a good bag to carry for our small purchases as well.. we usually buy trinkets for newphews and maybe a tshirt or two... and it could hold my water bottle .. time will tell on that one i guess ;)

who "beach it"...an idea..added room..find the stitched area that joins 2/3 areas together..snip, and pull threads..this will make 2 smaller compartments 1 larger one for bigger items, and still keep the integrity and usefullness of the bag..love the thru the shoulder size handles, and the velcro wrapper for them. It does away with the bottomless pit of any tote! Some of you ppl who sew..might consider a home project, and market them to us..16# duck canvas..any logo or embroidry, or plain on the sides..lots of ideas here..thanx for sharing your bag..will look in my local wine shops.

to pull my wine bag out of the give-away box! Thanks for the great suggestion. Mine is a four bottle holder, and I plan to put it inside a bigger "deck bag". I usually use ziploc bags, but I think it will be easier to find what I need in the wino bag.

DH will roll his eyes and tune me out if I tried to have a conversation about this level of planning for our cruises, thanks for being out there for me!

I feel confident any chain store would have them. I saw them at Super Walmart as well, they were hanging once again near the wine section.. Just keep those eyes open...

Great idea about splitting a compartment open that would definitely be a section for a beach cover up even... wow i cannot wait to sail and try mine out...

I plan so far ahead all the time in everything I do, it drives dh nuts some times but our vacations are usually 99% of the time pulled off without a snaffoo...

hollywood any other planning you want to talk about ??????????? I love love love to type, chat, brag, listen, lol

That bag will look awesome sitting right next to the plastic Piggly Wiggly sack at embarkation.

And folks wonder why Carnival peeps get so much flack for other lines.

I work at a liquor store in Canada and we have these types of bags. Because of the sun cream I do put my Ipod, sunglasses and room key in a baggie - I also take my camera and put it in a baggie as well- can rollup magazines, book, etc. Another non cruise idea for these - I have my shampoo, conditioner and body wash - other toiletries in one and take it into the bathroom every morning otherwise all my good stuff is gone pronto. Also, at the grocery store is great for glass products - pickles, olives, bbq sauce etc. I know a woman who uses it for her knitting. Thanks for bringing this up - never would have thought to post this myself.

LOVE this idea (and not just because I work for Kroger!)

Another idea would be to take an empty cardboard beer six-pack carrier and put it inside a regular tote bag.....although the "pockets" would be a little smaller it could work....

Better get back to work! :D
