bobarnie Posted March 6, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 6, 2009 We will be on this cruise in November and wanted to know which are the best places to snorkel along the way and whether we should book snorkel trips through P and O or book them on shore. Thanks in advance for any info and replys. :-)

LEESRE Posted March 6, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 6, 2009 Have a look at the islands on this site there is alot of good info on each of the islands and snorkeling. In Barbados it depends on what you want to do, there is a catamaran called Silver Moon and this does snokeling trips and lunch on board. You go over a few reefs with wrecks and swim with turtles. Dominica. Not many beaches but great to go to Champagne Reef for snorkeling this can be done on your own far cheaper than P&O. You swim amongst the bubbles coming up from the ocean floor just like swimming in Champagne. We have done this about 3 times. Antigua we go to Long Bay or Pineapple Beach by taxi small reef just off shore and a great beach. About 25 dollars each way by taxi at last count. St. Maarten. Great island one of our favorites we go to Little Bay by taxi again small reef just off shore and great beach bars. Beach Chairs about 5 dollars and taxi no more than about 6 dollars each way. Not sure about the others perhaps someone else will let you know.

St Vincent , Antigua, Cayo Leventado, Grand Turk, St Maarten Shame your not going to Bonaire the Mushi Mushi Fun Sail was great trip from P and O :-) Although Cane Garden bay wasn't a bad beach on Tortola. Cococabana Posted March 10, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2009 Barbados - get public bus from bus station (on the left as you walk into town) to Blue Monkey Bar - walk through bar to beach and you will be where they catamaran trips come to swim with the turtles. It isn't far to swim out from shore and snorkel - the turtles come right up and I have some great pics. Watch out for jet skis and catamarans tho. http://good-times.webshots.com/album/562665739eLEToT?vhost=good-times Tortola - get ferry to Virgin Gorda $33 each for return trip - there is good snorkelling at a small beach after you have scrambled through the "baths". Or get a taxi to Long Bay Beach Hotel on Tortola and walk through hotel down a track for about 1km until you reach Smugglers Bay - great snokelling there. capasamari Posted March 14, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 14, 2009 Love the video, we did this last December as a Thomson excursion and really enjoyed it! The turtles came right up amongst us. Carol x
MattOsprey Posted March 26, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 26, 2009 In Dominica, the best way to get too Champagne reef is by local bus. Saves a fortune and it stops at the door. And pick up is the same. It's also worth doing a local trip with a driver, as Dominica is a great place to explore. The waterfalls are great. Matt
