firsttimecruiser1 Posted November 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2004 I am planning a trip in february and am considering the power snorkelling excursion through RCCL. Does anyone know if this includes the equipment from snuba to assist in underwater breathing and the underwater power scooter or do you use simple snorkelling equipment.
SandDollar Laura Posted December 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2004 Power Snorkeling is our brand new tour here at Sand Dollar Sports, and we're really excited about it. My father, who was here visiting his baby girl, went on it and loved, loved, loved it. (and he's not an easy man to please, let me tell you) Essentially you get to play with fun water toys, like a scooter and a snorkel that you can actually hear, music and a live transmission of what you're seeing. Here's the "official" tour description Just when you thought that you had seen and tried everything that can be done in snorkeling; here is the Power Snorkel Experience. Let us get you closer to the fun and freedom of flying underwater, in this ultra modern tour. For the beginner to the advanced swimmer, this tour is designed to give you a pleasant and secure experience as you marvel at the exquisite marine life. Safe, fun and environmentally friendly, our Tyger Ray Aqua Scooter will give you a new level of mobility and adventure. Enjoy the most spectacular views of coral formation and the myriad of tropical fish that stretch to the shore line. Your adventure begins when your guide greets you at the pier and transports you by taxi to the our band new beach facility where you will receive in-depth information on how to use the Aqua Scooter and snorkel equipment by your PADI Certified Dive Master. Then you are off to enjoy the incredible views in the beautiful Caribbean waters. Skim around near the surface faster than you can swim. View marine life such as parrotfish, butterfly fish, angelfish and an occasional eagle ray. This tour is for the adventurous; a level of comfort in the water is recommended. After your Tyger ray power snorkel, you’ll have free time to enjoy the beach or normal snorkeling before returning to your cruise ship. Note: Participants must be at least 12 years of age and be in good general health. 16 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult
firsttimecruiser1 Posted December 3, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted December 3, 2004 Thanks for the information I do appreciate it. Do you know if while snorkeling do they use the snuba (long attached tube to a surface floatation device) equipment, or do you just rely on the basic snorkel tube and mask. I've seen pictures on the internet showing both ways of doing it. Thanks again, in advance.
solita Posted December 4, 2004 #4 Share Posted December 4, 2004 The company I work for offers it with just regular snorkel equipement. Have not heard of any outfit that offers it here with snuba but will post if I do.

SandDollar Laura Posted December 6, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 6, 2004 Sand Dollar Sports, offers both SNUBA and power snorkeling here in Cozumel. Although they're located just down the street from each other, they're different tours. SNUBA is the long tubes that you saw on the internet, sort of like Scuba diving without the tank strapped on your back. Power snorkeling is essentially "snorkeling with fun toys" You get to use a scooter, and a snokel that you can "hear" with, either alive broadcast ("Look over there! a parrotfish!" or general information and music)
