Back from the Sky! Any questions?

I don't have time to write out a detailed review just yet, although I'll be doing that sometime this week. (Stupid day job getting in the way!)

But I had a wonderful time this weekend, especially meeting my fantastic Cruise Critic friends Amanda, Debbie, Sam, Sherry, Dan, and Beth! Eric and I had so much fun with you guys!

Anyway, like I said, I'll write a detailed review with my thoughts later this week, but if anyone has any questions about the 3-night Sky, here's your chance!

Glad to hear you had a great time! We just booked the 4 night for the end of summer w/ our 4 kids and I've been reading that the inside cabins run on the small side. they were a bit spoiled in past cruises w/ really new ships so I want to prepare them if necessary. the ship has recently been renovated, correct? Just curious on size/layout and qualityof inside cabins (II category) if you happen to know - thanks!:)

I'm not the OP but I was just in an inside on the Sky in January. Seeing that the cruises on the Sky are short, I don't think that you would have any problem in an inside with your grandson. He's little to start with and it's such a short cruise, how much time will be spent in your cabin anyway?

If you follow the link in my signature, it will take you to a photo page where you will see "NCL Sky Cruise". Click on that and scan through the thumbnails till you see one labeled "our cabin". Don't want you looking at the wrong ones as my dad was in a HC inside which was huge! :) It's a basic inside cabin that I'm sure is similar to the one you stayed in on the Pearl, but I thought you might want to see a couple pics.

The inside cabins were very small. The ship seemed similar layout-wise and size-wise to the Sea, which we took on our first cruise (the Sea doesn't exist anymore) and we had an oceanview for that one, so we were actually surprised for the cabin to be so small this time.

We had an inside on the Sun and there was definitely more room in that one than this one. It was fine for us for just a weekend, but any more than 2 people and it would be a very tight fit, I think. I honestly can't imagine how you'd get a 3rd or 4th person in there.

Of course, now that we saw the suite that two of our CC friends were in, we just might have to spring for that next time. LOL! (Although they said they found the weather too cold to even sit outside on their balcony, so if we ever do the suite, we'd have to go during warmer weather.)

The weather was nice. A little cloudy and cooler in the morning, but warmed up in the afternoon and very sunny. Probably got to about 82 or so on Sunday on GSC. I got sunburned, but it's already turning to a nice brown...friends at work are jealous!

We loved GSC. A perfect relaxing beach day. Although there were tons of Spring Breakers on our ship, we were able to avoid them for the most part. They stayed by the volleyball court and by the bars or lounged around on floats in the water with buckets of beer. We snorkeled for most of the time but even when we laid out we couldn't really hear them at all. Only on the tender coming back to the ship (we got stuck on the last one and wow, they were drunk and obnoxious).

Two-for-one martinis at Plantation Club from 6-8 pm...yum! We tried the banana ones and they were scrumptious. But mostly we drank wine. Between the CC M&G, the VIP parties (again, thanks Amanda, Debbie, Sam, and Sherry!), the anniversary package, and the bottle Sam & Sherry dropped by our table in Le Bistro as an impromptu anniversary present (thanks! that was so sweet!), we were never in want of a drink. :D

We missed the cake and sparkling wine party (part of the anniversary package) because they schedule it for 4 pm during the Nassau day (and we were on s ahore excursion at the time), which is kind of annoying, but that was fine. The letter in our stateroom said that we could choose any 8x10 photo we wanted, so we got formal portraits taken. :) Our portrait turned out fantastic! Best picture of the two of us since our wedding photos!

Oh, and I'm happy to say that we never had to wait even a minute to get seated. Always just walked right up and were seated immediately, even when we went at the height of the dinner rush at 7:15.

Never a wait. Of course, it looked like the buffets were constantly crowded, so maybe that's why we never had a wait. Lots of Spring Breakers on the cruise, and it was quicker for them to eat at the buffet so they wouldn't have to take too much time away from partying in the hot tub.

Worked for me...

Hi ! Glad to hear that you had such a good time! My boyfriend and I are going on the Sky in April to the Bahamas and havn't cruise with Norwiegen before only Princess. How was the food in the regular dinning room? You mentioned a lot of Spring Breakers, I was getting the vibe from a lot of people this cruise is a lot of young college kids partying and drinking all the time or did you find there was a mix? Was there any good shows ? Thanks for the tip on the happy hour that sounds right up our alley ! Thank you

Tell us everything! :p

How was the weather?

Did you get to Great Stirrup?

How was your stateroom?

What were the drink specials? ;)

I was also on this sailing of the Sky, and after having just done the same 3 day on the Sky in December I can say, I will do it again.

The weather was great, a little breezy and nippy in the evening, but still good. They moved the White Hot party inside because it was too windy outside, but the spring breakers looked like they were having a good time either way.

Yes we did get to Great Stirrup Cay, missed it last cruise, it was very nice, and my friend and I just floated around on our pink and green inflatable chairs that we brought with us. People kept asking if we rented those on the island, NOPE, bring a float and a small pump and you are good to go.

Stateroom was great, we were in an inside room 8318, it was much larger than 10123 that I had in December. Set up differently and very roomy. Could put 3 in there very easy and probably even 4.

Ate at Cagneys the first night, per tradition, then Palace the rest of the time for dinner. Buffet for breakfast and lunch, and Long Bar for midnight snack, of course making way through the casino every once in a while for a small snack. BBQ hotdogs were pretty good, and I don't even like hot dogs.

I do love the Lemmings game, hit for $69 on the first night cashed out, and didn't play again, that was with only playing $10 of my own money, and $10 of the casino's using the $10 for $10 coupon.

I was disappointed with the piano entertainment they had in the evening, which replaced Leo the guitar man from my december cruise, I was really looking forward to seeing him again.

The comedian was ok, but I really dont' care for it when the first 30 minutes of a 45 minute show is taken up explaining to everyone what their part is going to be in the show, then in the last 10 minutes they act it out.

I did love Bill the EIEIO God, we saw him around the ship a couple times, and made sure he knew that we recognized him, then the last night of the cruise realized he was in the cabin across the hall from us.

Quest was great, as always.

Next time, there will be a group of us going, just gotta start saving my change again.

Our favorite meal of the entire cruise wasn't actually on the ship itself...it was lunch at this little hole-in-the-wall in downtown Nassau called The Pepper Pot.

But our second favorite meal was dinner at Le Bistro. It was simply delicious!

We ate in the main dining rooms during lobster night and the last night of the cruise. Both were good-to-very-good, and actually, some parts of the meal were great. The lobster was not the best lobster I'd ever had, but it was still good, and the ginger and crab bisque soup and watermelon and fried feta cheese salad that night was incredible! On the last night I had the melon and mint chilled soup, the monkfish, and skipped dessert (had eaten way too much all weekend).

Yes, there were lots of Spring Breakers but for the most part, we avoided them. The only time it was impossible to avoid them was on the tender back from the island, but that was our fault for taking the last one. The rest of the time, we barely noticed them at all, but then again, we didn't go to the theme parties or the casino or anything. At night, we did happy hour, drank wine with CC friends, dinner, and the shows. No spring breakers there!

Bill the EIEIO Guy was great! We loved him!!!

This sailing was Tim Kaminski's (the comedian) last one on the Sky. He disembarked yesterday in Miami to get married.

I was also on this sailing and we had a blast. We had an superior inside cabin on the Fjord Deck (9308) There were 3 of us and it was a little crowded when the 3rd bed was pulled out but really it was just fine. As for the comedian someone mentioned that he was just "ok"- well we all just about pee'd in our pants, our cheeks hurt from laughing so hard! Yea he spent alot of time telling the audience members what to do- but seeing him act out was hilarious too!! We loved him- and the EIEIO guy too. Yes there were some spring breaker but really not as much as I expected. Food was excellent and weather was just perfect!! Also loved the cruise director Matt, he was hilarious, he even dresses up as Austin Powers for the South Beach party the first night. Great Stirrup Cay was just beautiful!! We were lined up to get on that last noisy tender that Dukegirl mentioned but it was too crowded so there was one last tender that was almost empty and very enjoyable:) Overall it was a great mini vacation for us, cant wait to go again!!

The Quest game was great. Tim Kaminski was hilarious. The Newlywed, Not-So-Newlywed game was fun. The weather was perfect.

I participated in the Quest game. The next thing you know, I'm standing on stage in my underwear, wearing my wife's bra, carrying a purse, with lipstick on my hand...oh yeah, while several people were laughing and taking pictures...

Oh wow everything sounds great ! I am getting really excited about this trip now! It seems that there are different themes for some of the nights, is that true? So far people have mentioned a South Beach Night and a Monte Carlo night, is this true ? And do people get dressed a specific way for it ? Thanks for all the helpful info everyone !

My two brothers and I are sailing 5/15 on the Sky. I've cruised before (with my family) but never been to Nassau via ship. We're not interested in excursions, so looking for recommendations beyond the straw market?

On the 3-nighter, the 1st night is South Beach Night, and the cruise director Matt dresses as Austin Powers for the South Beach Party. Hilarious, because even before he'd put on the costume, when he started talking during the show that first night, I said to my husband, "He reminds me of Austin Powers."

I don't remember whether there was a Monte Carlo Night (I avoid the casino like the plague) but the theme party the second night was the White Hot Party (another thing I skipped -- I was too tired and there were too many Spring Breakers). The theme party the third night I think was a toga party, but again, I skipped.

Hi!

I'm helping my daughter plan her honeymoon, and presently have a 4-night cruise booked on the Sky in June. I've never cruised before, and this will be their first cruise. Thus, plenty of questions!

Excursions - They saw a couple of excursions they liked at Nassau, but do you have any suggestions for Grand Bahama Island?

Cabins - They have a balcony room booked, but what is the difference between the BC, BB, BA?

Drinks - Are soft drinks included? I've seen something about a wristband that costs extra.

Post Cruise - Their flight doesn't leave Miami until 3:00 PM. Any suggestions for things they can do between disembarkation and their flight - - - with luggage in tow?

So good to hear from someone who has just been, and had a wonderful time. Thanks for any and all help!:)
