Hard sided coolers and soda?!?!

Just curious if anyone knew if RCCL allowed you to bring a hard sided cooler onboard with soad? I have gotten many different responses, does anyone know anything definitive? I can let the porters take it or carry it on.

How are you getting to the port? If you're flying, I don't think it's worth taking a hard side cooler that counts against your luggage allotment. But, I read in the brochures that hard side coolers aren't allowed. Everyone seems to bring the small soft-sided collapsible coolers.

we will be driving in to port. if you take a collabsable cooler how are you supposed to get the sodas on board?

Take the hard side cooler and have it checked in with the porters. Give it its own luggage tag too- DO not attempt to carry it on as it may be too big for the security machine. A while ago Carnival did away with the carry on soda because soo many people were using those roller coolers and holding up the line. Its faster, easier and more convenient if you just check it with your luggage. You next dilemma is where to put it in the cabin.

We used a soft sided cooler--one that olds 12 cans. We each carrried on a 12 pack-in the plastic bags they give you at the supermarket. We get rid of the ice bucket and replace it with our cooler. Ask the cabin steward to fill it with ice. And only ice the soda we will need for the day. It doesnt take up much room. (since we got rid of the ice bucket) and it is out of the way.

thanks for the advice. I guess i can find somewhere in the cabin to stash it during the day. As long as we have something to drink in our cabin I'll sacrifice a little space.

I purchased a soft cooler at Walmart that holds 2 cases of whatever. It has a handle that pulls out with wheels. I plan on putting a luggage tag on it and having it delivered to our room. ;)

How about on Celebrity? Have brought our own soda on Princess and NCL... usually load it in a rolling carryon. Our first Celebrity and haven't seen anywhere that it is prohibited.

We sailed with Celebrity 2 years ago and they didn't bother us at all when carrying stuff on the ship.
