bellaj Posted March 13, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2009 Hi All - on the TA over to Barbados on the Ventura in Oct - I have seen a few comments on CC that luggage is not weighed for the return flight back - is that true ? Obviously we would not start packing huge trunks, but it would be handy to know if this was the case. Thanks as always for any response -Andy
stopgo Posted March 13, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2009 On the last night of your cruise the luggage is just left outside your cabin for collection. Next time you see it is when you land back home, so no I don't think they can weigh it.
CASPALL Posted March 13, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2009 We've noticed before that they cannot possibly weigh the cases, but never find anything to buy in the Caribbean anway! Caryl
StLucia Posted March 15, 2009 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Hi All - on the TA over to Barbados on the Ventura in Oct - I have seen a few comments on CC that luggage is not weighed for the return flight back - is that true ? Obviously we would not start packing huge trunks, but it would be handy to know if this was the case. Thanks as always for any response -Andy We were on this cruise and no they didn't weigh the bags. Everyone on our roll call was worried about baggage as ours was the first transatlantic with a reduced 23kg baggage allowance. But it worked out really well. We just left them outside our cabin before going to bed and they came off the carosel at the airport in the UK. Paperwork for the flight home was delivered to the cabin a few days before the end of the cruise and we had to state how many bags we wanted to put in the hold. The boarding cards and luggage labels were then delivered to the cabin. Very well organised and smooth process.
britsbest Posted March 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted March 15, 2009 Of course they weigh the bags..........the question should be do they charge excess baggage. They need to weigh the luggage before they fuel the airplane etc.;)
stopgo Posted March 15, 2009 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2009 I supose the correct answer is that we are not aware that they weigh the bags.
lostinvegas Posted March 16, 2009 #7 Share Posted March 16, 2009 I got back from Barbados yesterday and indeed you are not aware of anyone weighing luggage. But they must weigh it as its a requirement of the operation of the aircraft. They also do not weigh your hand luggage. Chris
stopgo Posted March 16, 2009 #8 Share Posted March 16, 2009 Hi Chris, Trust you had a great time, will you be posting a review in due course.
lostinvegas Posted March 16, 2009 #9 Share Posted March 16, 2009 I will, I have been writing it for a while now, its going to be long as I don't want to miss anything out and want to be as balanced as possible. In short we did have a great time. Ventura is not perfect by any means but it is a fantastic ship. The whole organistaion of the luggage is one of the positives. stopgo Posted March 16, 2009 #10 Share Posted March 16, 2009 No ship is ever perfect as is no holiday, its a matter of what comes closest to your expectations.
MattOsprey Posted March 26, 2009 #11 Share Posted March 26, 2009 As far as I am aware, they do not weigh individual luggage. They weigh the pods that are loaded into the plane, containing a number of bags. This is for the fuel to be worked out. I wouldn't guarantee that this is 100%, but I think it is.
