LisaDee Posted May 2, 2009 Author #301 Share Posted May 2, 2009 0.8 lbs gone, for an even 21 lost. In England, they'd call that 1.5 stone, and in January, I really did have 1.5 stone in my head (yes, hubby & I are insufferable Anglophiles!) as a reasonable goal. ACHEIVED! Lani--great job!! I'm not an anglophile but spent a week in and around London a few years ago and loved it. So you're sailing from Osaka to Seward, that sounds like an amazing cruise! I would love to sail Regent someday but I'll have to settle for Carnival for now  :) Have a wonderful trip!!! Lisa
LisaDee Posted May 2, 2009 Author #302 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Lisa and Lani...get Spanx "higher Power"...the waist goes up almost under your boobs, so no rolling and it flattens your muffin top. Spanx is pretty comfy, and you don't have to take them down to go to the bathroom. OK, I'll check it out. I'm intrigued by the going to the bathroom part. I assume there's a hole in the appropriate place? Hope you enjoyed your girls night out! Lisa
LisaDee Posted May 2, 2009 Author #303 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Just checking in to say we had a wonderful cruise. Welcome back, I'm glad you had a great cruise!! It sounds like you did the right thing by exercising every day and not going overboard with the great food. Hope you're not suffering from post-cruise depression like I do! ;) Lisa

LisaDee Posted May 2, 2009 Author #305 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Crazeecat, Willie T and flippr --- welcome, so glad you are joining us!! Did anyone see Kirstie Alley on Oprah this week? She gained back all the weight she lost on Jenny Craig plus another 10 pounds. Let's not let that be us!!! Once we reach our goal weight we still must be vigilant about getting regular exercise and eating responsibly. It's worth the effort in how we look and most importantly our health. Best of luck to everyone in staying on plan having good weigh-ins this week!! Lisa

sanda Posted May 3, 2009 #308 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Hi all, I went and got weighed in today and tada, I was down .2 of a pound. I know that doesn't sound like much, but remember we just got back from our cruise! I was so pleased. So now I'm going to get right back on track. We were out to a dance tonight. the last time we were to one was in December and I love to polka, and I was so out of breath then I had to sit down in the middle of the song, well tonight I danced right through the same song and was hardly even winded:D. Now I really know how much better I feel. Now for a totally different topic, I know I said we wern't going to cruise again for two years, but friends of ours want us to go with them next April. My two cruises were on Royal Caribbean and I loved them, but was wondering what the other cruise lines are like and that maybe I would like to try a different line next time. If anyone could tell me about the other lines I would really appreciate it. Thanks. ~Susan SW 264 CW 228.

JudiDM Posted May 3, 2009 #310 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Sandra, that's great!!! I gained four pounds on my last cruise!!! Glad to hear you're going again!!! I have only sailed on Carnival, and the main reason is it's affordable!! I have always heard that "the other" lines are an older, more sedate crowd. I'm a night owl, and like to do the piano bar, casino and midnight shows. I cruise in Jan because there are less kids and even though I live in the south, I like to escape cold weather. Our 8 day cruise to Belize (not too thrilling) Panama (never been there, so excited) and Costa Rica (excited) is only $1418 (for two) for a balcony on Carnival, Jan 15,2010. Very affordable for me on my retirement income!! I also am curious about other lines. Judi
terrielynn Posted May 3, 2009 #311 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Hi everyone! And all the newbies too! It is great to see so much excitement on here! DH and I messed up bad. We both had to pay last week because we were both over the allowed 2 pounds for a lifetimer. I was up 7 and DH was up,...15!!! It was our own fault, we know what we did. So we were mad at ourselves for a few days and then tracked like crazy this week. No exercise for me since I had some eye surgery and they don't allow it. But I ate right. So we weighed in this week and I lost 6 1/2!!! Thank goodness! DH lost 3 1/2. So he is feeling better about it! It was so easy to slip right back into those bad habits! And very scary to see how quick that weight just popped right back on. I have way too many cute new clothes to let this happen again! I am going to continue to weigh in every week even though I don't have to. It will keep me more honest and help support my DH. sw 196 cw 150 gw

Guest Crazeecat5 Posted May 3, 2009 #313 Share Posted May 3, 2009 Hi all, Just came back from my bookclub meeting. I saved my extra points for this but am happy to say that I didn't use too many. I did not have any dessert and had a little taste of everything I wanted and lots of salad. I am going to eat a lighter dinner too. Just want to get through this first weigh in on Tuesday. Great job, TeriLynn. Hi Andrea....I am rooting for you for your WI tomorow!!
dcrobin Posted May 4, 2009 #314 Share Posted May 4, 2009 just a word of encouragment for those who say "I only lost .2, or such.. " A loss of .25 (a quarter of a pound) is equal in size and appx volume of a STICK of BUTTER!!!!! Every pound lost is like losing 4 sticks of butter off your body! That is something to be celebrated. It is a great way to visualize even the smaller losses---they DO eventually add up! Keep working toward the ultimate goal---one stick of butter at a time. Happy losing, everyone! Guest Crazeecat5 Posted May 4, 2009 #315 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Good morning WW friends, Started off my morning with a cup of coffee and a flavored rice cake with a dab of butter. I'm not a big breakfast eater so this will suffice. Already planned my whole day out. I find this works best for me.....I spend a few minutes in the morning with my points finder and tracker and I'm good for the whole day. WI tomorrow for the first time. Wish me luck!!! loladuvall Posted May 4, 2009 #317 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Hi Everyone!! Hi Andrea & Sheryl, I hope you don't mind but I followed you over here too. I'd like to join the WW support group if you all will have me. :( I'm 35 years old and have been overweight for pretty much as long as I can remember. I've tried almost any diet I could find and had some successes, but each time gained everything back and more. I'm trying to do something sensible and slow this time, and commit to something I can stay with for the long haul. I'm in my second week of weight watchers and it is going pretty well. I seem to be a little hungrier this week than last, but I'm doing OK. I try to supply myself with plenty of healthy snacks to get me through the day. I try to set little healthy habit goals for myself every week and this week's goal was to have at least 3 different whole grains this week and I'm proud to say that the mission is nearly accomplished. (Weigh in is Tuesday.) I've had the WW multigrain crisps, whole wheat bread and I plan on having a whole grain rice & barley dish tonight. :) Starting weight - 283.4 Current weight - 280.0 Goal weight - 155 CONGRATS ANDREA!! I'm going to try that too. I also get weighed in tomorrow, my first. So we will meet back here tomorrow.:D DCRobin....I have to tell you that I just went to the fridge to see exactly what the sticks of butter look like. All I can say is WOW! lkakers Posted May 4, 2009 #322 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Hi, all! Welcome newbies! Sounds like you are all off to a good start! Lisa & Judi, thanks for the good trip wishes... I am SO excited. And behind in my packing and organizing, so I can't stay long -- but I just wanted to say farewell! I will check in for sure after my cruise, and there is a small possibility I'll get online during... if I do, you will probably hear from me. Hope you all do very well.... I'm really hoping I can get myself to do some walking on a treadmill, and stay somewhat disciplined so I don't stuff myself. I won't be tracking, I don't think, so it could be a disaster when I get back!! Wish me luck and willpower!
JudiDM Posted May 4, 2009 #323 Share Posted May 4, 2009 Hey Sheryl, I'm still here...not feeling so slim today, I guess we all have our feel fat days and feel great days.....Andrea, welcome and totally awesome weight loss!! I loose anywhere from 1/2 to 1.5 pounds a week and would love to loose 4.8 pounds in a week!!!! I know I only have 15 pounds to go to goal, but this weight loss stuff is hard work!! Robin and Lisa seem to be our little cheerleaders and without them this board isn't as lively!! Two web sites you new guys might like...dwlz.com, has all the points for restaurant foods...Hungrygirl.com, its a WW site and has foods and tips....I just joined 3fatchicks, which has a great WW thread and lots of people and ideas too. I'm not a sit down and eat a meal type, I like to pick...a little of this and a little of that..unfortunately that adds up to a LOT of points. I find that tacking is the best thing I can do to keep track of all my nibbles!! Lani, have a great cruise!!!! You'll do great, remember, if it goes on it can come off!!! Can't wait to hear your reviews!! Judi
policecruiser Posted May 5, 2009 #324 Share Posted May 5, 2009 Hi All! We're back from our trip. Had a great time and met some wonderful folks. My waiter's motto was if we didn't gain 7 pounds in 7 days, he hadn't done his job. I gained 4 pounds but was 2 pounds below goal when I left. Here's some tips I used to keep the weight gain down. - Eat a large serving of fruit at breakfast and a large salad at lunch before you get anything else. On RCCL, you see the fruit and salad bar first. Helps you get full faster and you will eat less 'bad stuff'. - I took some packet of Weight Watchers smoothie mix with me and had one at breakfast with 8 oz of skim milk. I got my milk servings in early and didn't have to think about it later in the day. - Take some low-cal snacks you like so that when your buddies go to the late-night cafe to get burgers, fries, pizza and cookies, you can snack on that and not feel too deprived. I took some 2pt granola and snack bars and some WW cakes. - Don't ignore the obvious: Use the stairs as much as you can and make use of the gyms onboard. Participate in activities like the Walk-A-Mile, swim, rock climb, whatever you like to do. - Egg beaters are available on request. I asked the cook at the omlette station to use them and to use 2 tsp of oil (no more!) in the pan. They tend to use WAAAYYYY too much oil. - Keep a glass of water of Iced tea with you. - Limit the alcohol. I had some wine, a few Belini Sunsets and some Rum punch. - The healthy dinner choices (Vitality on RCCL) are delicious. They had a cold fruit soup each night on the menu and they were awesome! One thing I found out about myself is that since I've been faithful to WW, I really didn't want all of the foods on the buffets that I would have eaten before. I saw them as a danger to my heart, wardorbe and overall health. I did have a treat or two but I was conscience not to overdo it. Bottom line - Enjoy your trip!
