We are going on a western carribbean cruise out of Miami. Do you go through customs either way? If so, at what point. We are flying from Chicago to Miami & back.

You go through customs whrn you get back to Miami. We did this yesterday and didn't see them open any bags.

Welll, technically you do go through Customs upon arriving in Miami on the ship. You walk through this area where 4-5 agents are sitting at a long table-- give them your declaration (which will be put in your cabin/under your door on one of the last days on the cruise), flash them your passport and they usually just wave you through. It isn't long, involved or complicated.
