Just a word of caution. If you tell the car rental company you want a car in St. John's your car will be waiting for you in Newfoundland, while you are in Saint John, New Brunswick. That sort of thing happens all the time.

If you do mean Saint John, NB - a self guided walking tour is best due to the closeness of all the attractions. If you want to expand your tour, a bus tour by the local transit is the better option.

Whatever you do make sure you make your reservations for Saint John, New Brunswick and not St. John's, Newfoundland. Big difference.
