Caribbean & Sun - Jan 12 - St Maarten

I was looking over the cruise calendar to determine how many ships will be in St Maarten on Jan 12 and discovered that right now there are a lot of ships scheduled to be in that port on the same day.

Are either of you (Caribbean or Sun Princess) scheduled to be there that day?

Caribbean & Sun passengers - are all you saying you won't be on St Maarten with 8 other ships?

I think you have to wait a bit for people to answer KK. Sure seems like a lot of ships that day but then it's Winter in the Carribean. Usually It's first come first serve to the pier and the rest have to tender.

The new pier holds only 4 ships. That means that 6 ships will have to tender.

We have been there when there were 7 ships - 3 tendering. But never with 10.

And it was very crowded everywhere with 7 ships.

I have read a lot of comments lately about 6-7-8-10 ships being in St. Martin all at the same time. I think you are going to run into this problem in the Caribbean in the winter months quite often. Sorry!

 

If I am not mistaken, they have 4 ships at the pier and the rest have to tender in. We have seen this many times before and it does make it quite crowded in port. :(

We were in St Maarten last March when there were 7 ships there - not all big - 2 were small scooners.

The biggest ship then was the Queen Mary 2.

People were complaining about not being able to book tours either through the ship or on their own because the most popular tours were all sold out a couple of months in advance.

The Sun is. I'm doing two open water dives for my SCUBA certification in that port.

Looks as though it is going to be a very crowded day in St Maarten.
