Whatever happened to the Old CC Boards?

This is just my personal opinion but I liked the old cruise critics boards so much better. I miss the avatars (think that's what they were called) . . . where you could put a picture next to your name instead of just "Cool Cruiser." I miss the time clocks counting down to your next cruise. I miss reading all the cruises others that post have taken that would follow their notes. I miss all the silly automated funnies that some posters would post . . . now it's just a circle with a smile or frown. I miss the music others would post with their notes (I'm now listening to music someone posted on the cruise addicts board). I just started reading these boards again after about a year (something about booking a new cruise that draws you to others that love to cruise). So much has changed since planning my last cruise. It just doesn't seem to be as much fun. Is it just me or do others feel that something is missing?

As I understand it, there were irredeemable technical problems with the old format, so they got sent off to electronic Alang.

 

As to preference, I can't say I care much either way. I'm mostly here to for the content.

You can still use different avatars and insert your own pictures . As you can see from my signature, you can also personalize your own name. It's just done differently from before.

As I discovered, you can also turn on and off the images that you see in the posts. So, if you don't turn them on, you won't see the countdown clocks or pictures people put in their posts.

 

As for preference, you get used to what you use. It was a change to use this, but most of the boards I go to that used to use the same InfoPop Open Topic software have dropped it due to technical problems.

no, they are gone, as far as I know. They managed to keep some from a couple months before the new board took over.

Well, at least I figured out how to get my avatar and countdown clock back but I still miss the old boards . . . .

Seeing the number of all the postings I had on the old format. I know it doesn't make a bit of difference to anyone else but me, but I got a big kick out of seeing how many postings I USED to have!

Some people still have hundreds of postings. When did the change happen? I haven't been on here for a year or so.

yeah somethings missing the old critic cruise boards were very easy to navigate!

I finally hit 1000 posts on the new board (not that I'm counting :p ). I'm just sad that the old "posts" didn't carry over to the new board. :(

It has been several years sinced we cruised and was wanting to re-read our posts from years ago. Sadly all is gone including our reviews. We did't think to write them down.

After 100+ posts, now we are back to starting over.
