Cabbage Beach Information

I will be going to the Bahamas on the Carnival Pride in June. Originally our group was thinking of going to the Atlantis but the price is outragous. We are looking for a beach to spend a few hours on.

I have a few questions:

1: How much can you negotiate beach chairs for.

2: I know there is no access to a restroom. How close is the nearest one?

3: How close is the Atlantis?

4: Anywhere to eat around there?

5: Can you rent jet skis?

Any input would be much appreciated.

We were at Cabbage Beach last July and going again this July on Majesty.

If I remember correctly the chairs were $10 to rent. We walked through Atlantis first and used the rest rooms in there. It was about a 10 minute walk from Atlantis to Cabbage beach. They sell drinks and snacks on the beach. You can get a taxi back to the ship right at the entrance of Cabbage Beach. I think it was $4 a person to go back.

I believe they are $10.

A 10 minute walk to Atlantis Beach Towers Lobby

3: How close is the Atlantis?

A 10 minute walk to the Beach Towers - another 5-10 to the casino once inside. You are only allowed in the lobbies and casino without a pass.

4: Anywhere to eat around there?

Yes, about 10-15 minutes walk to Anthony's, Quiznos or the marina Village

5: Can you rent jet skis?

Yes, cost is about $60 for 1/2 hour. Syncronize your watches .. they will try and get you in after 15 minutes or so.

Any input would be much appreciated.

Cabbage beach is doable - there are vendors there that sell drinks from a jug ($15 for all you can drink refills).

If you need water, soda , snacks.. bring them. There are stores downtown that sell everything you need to pack for the beach.. and don't forget sunscreen. Bring your own towels.

The drinks from a jug that you mentioned are these alcoholic drink or what? And are they safe? I don't want to get diptheria or anything. I am visualizing like a used gallon milk jug or something. LOL

They are usually rum drinks.. and yes.. they are from that type of jug. Noone has gotten sick from them so far.

Locals sell from coolers they bring down to the beach every day. Other than that.. there are no bars or snack bars on the beach.

If I plan to go to cabbage beach during this time it will be during spring break, so I should be prepared for alot of college kids right? Any suggestions.

yes and no, but most of the college kids are gone by easter week.. so the beach is crowded with tons of families with kids and high schoolers (who like to get drunk)

Suggestion.. relax and enjoy.. there is nothing you can do about it .. so join in the fun.

Somewhere I read that if you keep walking down the beach, away from Atlantis, that it gets less crowded. Is this true? Anyone know of a quiet spot on this beach?

Yes, you can walk to the east for a mile or so .. Nice if you don't mind the hike. But remember this is an ocean beach.. and sometimes has quite an undertow.. so be careful.
