2sunny Posted March 24, 2009 #77 Share Posted March 24, 2009 We did not discover this board until we returned from our very first cruise. It was about 7-8 years ago and we cruised on the Celebrity Summit in a beautiful CC balcony. We had a wonderful time, we loved the food, service, itinerary, the beautiful ship, the stateroom was terrific. We probably asked the crew a lot of stupid questions because we did not always know what we were doing, but every crew members we had interaction with was kind and very helpful. We had the best waiter we have ever had. We really enjoyed every minute of this cruise and immediately signed up for another Celebrity cruise. Well, as I said when I got back, 'then' our TA told me about this board. When I started reading it I was amazed to read posts from 2 people that were on that same cruise that we were that bashed EVERYTHING! My DH and I could not believe that they were on the same cruise that we were. Because it was our first cruise, if we had read these comments before we cruised we may have seriously reconsidered cruising. Thank goodness we have learned that some people just like to B***H. They will never be pleased with any cruise. So I very seldom take any of the complaints seriously unless there are many, many, many people complaining about the same thing. And THEN, I do research to find out if it is really true! HOW MANY OF YOU TAKE THE COMPLAINTS SERIOUSLY?

I finally went on my cruise and honestly I didn't think about the negatives. mr jailerman Posted March 24, 2009 #80 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Had a canceled appointment today and for kicks I decided to see what folks complained about on the board. I decided to go back to the first of March. What I found made me reconsider (not really) my trip in 24 days. It has been my desire to not miss anyone that I could upset and I tried to include all equally. Like W.C. Fields said (or should have said) I am free of prejudices, I hate everyone equally. Cancelling my cruise because why in the world would anyone want to go on a cruise that featured? 1.Wait listed dinner times 2.Chair hogs 3.No classical or jazz 4.Bugs 5.No upgrade or up sell 6.Automatically closing balcony doors 7.Room stewards that want to clean the cabin 8.Documents that will not print in Firefox 9.No Frank’s red hot sauce 10. No onboard credit 11. Getting into port too early or too late 12.Ships that leave on time 13.Ships that make you put your clothes on in port 14.Open dinning, closed dinning, Free style dining, anytime dinning 15. Waitlist in general 16.Full ships, less than full ships, cancelled ships due to too few folks 17. Confusion over ship/shore time 18.Tips, automatic tips, no tips, tips not in the price of the meal 19.Rooms too close to stairwell/elevator or too far from them 20.Midnight buffets or that lack of them 21.E-docs, snail mail docs 22.Folks that smuggle on booze or folks that do not 23. Rude men/women 24.Crowded excursions 25.Pushy locals 26.Too many kids or too many old folks 27.Too may young folks on spring break 28.Needing a passport to travel outside of the country 29.Cabana robbers 30.People who wear lanyards around their neck, with pouch or with whole punch 31.Slow internet in the middle of an ocean 32.Karaoke songs, and folks that sing them 33.Making folks attend the Muster drill 34.What constitutes the proper wine bottle size to bring onboard 35.Elegant nights too many or not enough 36.Folks that dress up too much for elegant nights or do not 37.Cashless society, how does it work 38.Great food from room service or food that is not great 39.No more topless area (one of my real beefs) 40.Getting on board early or too late 41.Folks that don’t close drapes and those that do 42.Too much luggage, not enough 43.Norovirus 44.Getting kicked off the boat at the end of a cruise 45.Cruise fares that are reduced and are not reduced (depends on perspective) 46.Spring breakers on board during spring break 47.Coffee 48.Mirrors in rooms, lack of and size 49.Alcohol ______________(fill in the blank) 50.Port holes, inside rooms, balcony good/bad 51.Denver TV 52.Spending a fortune and having the kids bring on PS3 games 53.Drunk kids/adults/old people in ports 54.Cold food 55.So so eggs Benedict in DR 56.Dinner tables that are too large or too small 57.Ordering more than one main course at dinner 58.Tight casinos 59.Beer in bottles of cans 60.Charges to use a cell phone in the middle of an ocean 61.All you can eat food and folks that take advantage of it 62.Adult only pools or the lack there of 63.PVP’s that call or don’t call 64.Ship deck plans 65.Artwork on ships and décor featuring “nudes” 66.Too many smoking areas/ not enough smoking areas 67.Cannot get off on first tender (on ship with 2700 + guests) 68.Expensive ship sponsored excursions 69.Seasickness in the middle of an ocean 70.Trolls 71.TA’s on the boards 72.Undercover Carnival folks on the boards 73.Folks that get sick on board, especially old folks 74.Getting upgrades that are not perfect 75.Water quality on board not up to bottled level 76.Rough seas in the middle of an ocean 77.Missed ports due to weather conditions in the middle of an ocean 78.Hard beds, soft beds, beg bugs 79.Fun ship Freddy 80.Corking fee in the middle of an ocean 81.And my best all time complaint, getting addicted to something that all you are required to do is eat, sleep, drink, relax, and enjoy. pnjkeith Posted March 24, 2009 #81 Share Posted March 24, 2009 Can I also include the reason for visiting cruise critic so often? Nixie.... gotta love a genuine, completely ridiculous and troublemaking troll!!!!!!!!! No matter what he/she calls himself/herself, he/she always shows his/her true colors!!!!!!! And, I want to ask a question but don't want to use the search engine? Will anyone flame me for that? HELLO!!!!!!!!!! OF COURSE!!!!! That's what we're here for!:) Nixie is on carnival connections! Really funny stuff! No tips required, etc. :D
vacation_junkie Posted March 24, 2009 #82 Share Posted March 24, 2009 :D How about posters that like to call all new folks on cruise critic a "troll". Just because someone is new that does not make them a troll. If they don't like the question, SIMPLY not answer and go on with your life. isn't a troll someone who posts fake posts??? mykiddiewinks Posted March 24, 2009 #87 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I didn't know they allowed trolls on board. Now we'll have to bring Harry Potter every time we cruise. Those things are dangerous! - Steve Thing is whenever I see Trolls mentioned on the boards I think of little naked guys with bright pink or orange hair. And yes I agree with the Fun Ship Freddy one - even though I do have my picture with him it was after several drinks!! cherylatwork Posted March 24, 2009 #89 Share Posted March 24, 2009 I tend to think of cruising as an adventure. And as with any adventure, things may not always go as planned. Although I have read a “few” legitimate complaints, to me most are just fluff. Come on people, live a little, have some fun. On a side note #79-funship freddy is a wee bit scary :) Cheryl

Cruise Cat Posted March 25, 2009 #98 Share Posted March 25, 2009 OMG this is too Funny:D I admit, I am guilty of a few of these. I didn't get involved in this one a few years back and don't remember which of the cruise lines here on CC it was always on; but - What about the "Great Butter Debate" (too hard, too soft)? Also, The Captain took us around the hurricane, so we missed our ports! / The Captain drove us into the storm, endangered our lives, and we all got seasick.
