Voyager OTS questions...

Recommended Posts

We are considering booking Voyager OTS this december out of Galveston, and would appreciate some comments/opinions from folks who have been on her... and also the Freedom class ships.

Hubby will be using a power wheelchair, and we will most likely book a E2 or Promenae view accessible room.

We also heard that Derek Lewis is now on the Voyager and we have missed him sooo much since our first cruise on the Rhapsody 3 years ago.

Thanks in advance for everyones thoughts and opinions (we have had to scale back from our original Solstice booking *big pout )

We were on Voyager last month, doing Western route. Although Voyager isn't our favority ship (that goes to the Jewel of course!) it is a wonderful ship.

Derek was in the Pig and Whistle doing his adult day care.

Voyager has a dry dock coming up when it gets across the pond, don't know what will be done to "her".

We had one complaint. We had an AFT cabin on deck 10 (which we LOVED). But walking down the Starboard hall to/from the cabin we could smell sewage. That was awful. They were aware of the problem and it appeared they were trying to remedy the problem, but it persisted all week. We ended up walking up and down the Port hallway.

Voyager's a fun ship! We thought she was in great shape last week.

Derek Lewis was on the Voyager last week...he was drawing the crowds into the Pig & Whistle.

I have some "cruise friends" who have sailed pretty extensively on the Voyager class ships. One of them is a manual wheelchair user. I don't think they have had any problems with the ship being wheelchair "user friendly." In thinking about the ship, I think there might be some issues navigating in the casino, or in the Promenade when it's crowded and they fill the middle with sale tables. Other than those two things it seemed like it would be fairly simple to maneuver around the ship.

Most of the public areas are located very close to one of the sets of elevators. The forward centrum/elevators are located right by the Solarium. The spa, Cleopatra's Needle (lounge), LaScala Theater, and the Schooner Bar are also very close to the forward elevators. The Royal Promenade (shopping, bars, snacks) runs between the two centrums. The aft elevator lobbies are forward of the Windjammer just aft of the main pools. All three dining rooms are located by the aft elevators, and the photo gallery and Studio B (ice rink) are located by the aft elevators. You can also access the upper decks of the ship from the aft centrum & elevators.

Hope that helps!
