Shopping near the cruise port?

Hi- I was wondering if there is anything to do like shopping once we get off of the ship. We are hoping to walk somewhere when we get off of the ship. Is this possible or do we have to take a cab somewhere? Thank you

In Frederiksted you can do a little shopping, there aren't a whole lot of shops but there are a few and vendors usually set up on cruise ship days. There is a Fort right there, Fort Frederik. There are a couple beaches in walking distance, some with beach bars/restaurants for drinks and lunch. You could check out the Caribbean Museum Center for the Arts if its open: http://www.cmcarts.org/.

Do the beaches within walking distance have shade and rent chairs and umbrellas?

Also, is the rum factory close to the dock? What is the best way to get there?

Thanks, we are looking forward to our visit in Feb.

The closest beach to the cruise ship dock is Frederiksted Beach. There isn't much natural shade close to the shore/water. The treeline is further back toward the road and there isn't much of a treeline. They do set out a few chairs/umbrellas when cruise ships are in port - not sure how it works... if its first come first serve or if there is a fee.

The Cruzan Rum Factory is about a 10 minute drive from Frederiksted. You can take a taxi.
