ted1717 Posted November 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2004 We have booked to go on the Radiance of the Seas in January and had booked as a E1 Guar category cabin. Just got our room assignments ( 2 cabins for the family of 4). We were assigned to two adjoining cabins each with a third berth in the forward section of the ship. Are we less likely to have a sofa and sitting area than if there was not that third berth? We have no use for the third berth in either cabin! Would prefer a sitting area. Also with about a month to our departure are there any upgrade fairies at RCCL? We have booked our last 6 cruises with Princess and up till about 2 weeks before it seemed that the wonderful fairy of the seas was still making magic, is RCCL the same? Thanks for the info! bUU Posted November 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2004 If you know your cabin assignment, you can just check how the cabin is configured.
KamloopsCruisers Posted November 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2004 The third berth is above the sofa so it won't affect your sitting area. In fact, you won't even know it is there. In the El category however, the sofa is actually more like a small loveseat and "chair and a half". You only get a full sofa when you book D category. ted1717 Posted November 30, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Thanks for information. Sounds as if third berth will make no difference to us! Does RCCL have an upgrade fairy or is that a Princess fantasy only?
kitty1 Posted December 1, 2004 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2004 We had 8088 on the Serenade and the third berth was above the bed. We didn't use it so don't know what it would look like when opened up.
MattInFLL Posted December 1, 2004 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2004 Generally, RCI only does upgrades at the pier for a price... if you want one, get to the dock early, like 10-10:30, and once past security ask for the pier coordinator, who is the person from the ship who handles upgrades. Also, about 5-7 days before sailing, go to one of the major travel web sites like expedia or travelocity and look up your sailing as if you're going to book it and see what cabin types are still available... then you'll have a good idea of what your chances are...
