deluxx Posted March 31, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 31, 2009 Hi, I've been told I must go to Magen's Bay -- that it's the nicest beach in St. Thomas. But is the snorkeling there good? I've heard more about Diamond and other beaches... am I going to miss out on good snorkeling if I go to Magen's Bay?
Middleager Posted March 31, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 31, 2009 It's a beautiful beach. But not much for snorkeling. We went to Coki beach for snorkeling/diving, and of course to enjoy the beach.
JP32 Posted March 31, 2009 #3 Share Posted March 31, 2009 The snorkeling there is not the greatest but if you decide to go then head to the far left and out a little ways and it was ok.
Nannerz Posted April 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2009 I would recommend Magens for lounging and swimming. Coki for snorkeling. Here is a video we took in December. Most of the underwater creatures and scuba pictures were taken at Coki. The opening shot of the large beach and playing in the waved was taken at Magens. Both beautiful. Coki is also next door to Coral World which offers some great excursions too.

bry1262 Posted April 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 14, 2009 I have been to meagans 4 times and the best place to snorkel is if you are facing the water walk all the way to your left to the end of the beach away from the crowds. if you swim along the rocks it starts to get really good about 200 yards from shore. we went last July and saw several Tarpon a sea turtle and lots of fish. You kind of have to be a good swimmer because the farther you go out it does get deeper and a little rougher. Do not bother going to the right side of the bay there is not much to see. I do live in south florida and have dove in the Keys alot and I was quite suprised how many fish I did see at meagans. It seems to get better the further you go out.
