wait list for S.A. cruise

The Royal Princess is sold out for the Feb. S.A. sailings. We were offered a place on the wait list for $600 pp. (refundable) Has anyone had experience with this? They can't tell us how many are on the list, is there a way to find that out? Should we forget it or take a chance. We can travel on short notice so that isn't an issue.

Yeah, yeah, ... book early, get the cabin you want, etc...... I know all the rules, I just don't follow them. Thanks!!

I am surprised they did not tell you what your number in line would be. I wanted a mini-suite for the Royal's Feb 21st sailing and was told they were sold out and I would be 4th in line. I didn't want to lose out altogether so I took a balcony. You might want to get on the list for the 21st sailing as final payment is due next Wednesday and I imagine there will be some drop outs.

Celebrity's Infinity has limited availability for its Feb., 2005 sailings as well as for Jan., 2005. Might want to check it out on the Celebrity website.

I would suggest going on the wait list if you are before final payment date.

 

The Celebrity SA cruises were sold out in june 2004 for Jan/Feb of 2005 and they even closed the wait list in July. Now that final payment date has come and gone there are some cabins / suites available for all of their sailings.

Patience and persistence paid off, we did secure a cabin on the 21st sailing of the Royal. I called Princess on a regular basis to check for availablity and just before Christmas there was an opening. I phoned my travel agent to book the trip and she was able to secure a better cat. for less money than I had been quoted by Princess. Now we have to think about shore excursions, any advice from those of you who have made this trip previously or anyone who has arranged tours for the 2005 sailing? Thanks
