Rouen to Normandy beaches

Our cruise excursion to Normandy was cancelled.

 

Can anyone give me information how to get to Normandy from Rouen?

 

Are there tour guides on the dock?

 

Is there a tour place that anyone can recommend?

I'm not certain what you are asking. Rouen is the Capitol of Upper Normandy. Where does the ship dock on your cruise? Are you trying to go to the Normandy Invasion Beaches?

We are trying to go to the Normandy D-Day Beaches from Rouen.

 

That is why we picked this particular cruise.

 

Any info will be extremely appreciated.

Look on the Web for the various landing beaches you want to visit (I think from memory they are all within 20 miles of each other) and plot a route using Michelin also on the web.

 

This will give you the mileage or in km probably and you can decide the best way of travelling.

 

You must visit Arromanche wherethere is a small cinema on the beach showing film of the landings cut with present day scenes. Very moving. The various Cemeteries are along the main road and all beautifully looked after.

Karolm - My suggestion would be to rent a car in Rouen. We did a driving trip on our own for about 12 days through Normandy. It's easy to to get around, roads are great and this way you control your own schedule. There is a Hertz office right at the train station in Rouen. As Brian said you can (and should) use the Michelin maps to figure out your route.

 

But I want to double check with you - is the ship docking in Honfleur? If so, no need to go to Rouen - you can rent your car there.
