Blue Grotto - best port to get there from?

We'd love to go to the Blue Grotto but only have a half day in Malta. I've read that tours also go there from Naples. Our ports are Rome, Valletta, Naples, Livorno and Cannes. Can anyone who's gone tell me which port they've taken the tour from? We are not sure which would be best. Thanks!

The Travel channel had a RCL Mediterranean cruise ad on a week or so ago. They showed a family visiting the Grotto from the Naples port. It looked like a cool place to visit, but I don't know if I would want to miss Pompeii if I was going to Naples.

Of the ports you mentioned you can get to the Blue Grotto from Naples. A hydrofoil from Naples to Capri takes 45 minutes. You will dock at Marina Grande and immediately see boats for the Blue Grotto. But be advised they can only enter the grotto if the seas are calm because rough seas would mean crashing against the walls.

There are two well-known Blue Grottos. One on Capri -- Naples would be your port for this and one on Malta -- Valletta for this.
