We watched the show, too. It IS huge and it was very interesting watching how the ship was built. When it was sent out to sea for all the "tests", it made me realize just how much really goes into the building of such a huge cruise ship! I don't think the QM2 is a very pretty ship, though. Not compared to most cruise ships I've seen.

I didn't see the special at all, but I did tour on the QM2 when it was in New York. The ship was certainly HUGE but I wasn't too impress with it. I found the RCI ship much brighter and exquisite! I think the Spa was much nicer on the QM2 than the Serenade; otherwise RCI tops. Did you know that the QM2 separated the passenger in three different dining room based upon the type of room they book??? I wonder if people in the 3rd class (the majority) will be treated like Leonardo Dicaprio in the Titanic? How terrible!!!

Just FYI, this 2 hour documentary is going to be repeated tomorrow (Saturday May 1st at Noon, EST) on The Discovery Channel.

I think I'll post a VCR Alert for it.

I saw bits and pieces of it, I thought it was pretty good. There was a message about it over on the Cunard board, some folks there noted a few seemingly minor technical errors.

My friend pointed out the dining room based on room class. At that point I became even more inclined to call it the Titanic! It looks like it and they book like it... I told her we'd be down there with the water and the rats. She said no way - we'll never be on the QM2 because we're first class folks without the money to prove it! The QE2 always had the dining rooms based on the class of cabin - at least we can now roam all over the ship rather than be confined to a small area (anyone else old enough to remember the 3-class ships where the only way to go between classes was through the doctor's office?) Not, of course, that I would ever do that.

The topic was titled "now that's a wave". I'm not sure how to post a link. Maybe someone else can help out here. The video clip is awesome.
