Ship Gift Shop Question

A friend of mine said the gift shop on board the ship has name brand perfumes really cheap, she's got me a list of the one's she wants me to get for her. Is this really true?

I can't vouch for Carnival just yet, but when I was on Princess 6 months ago (also owned my Carnival Corp.), the perfume prices were very comparable to what you might find in a department store or Ulta, etc.

The prices in the gift shop are cheaper then the states, especially imported products, duty free and no tax. The islands have the best prices St. Thomas has the best liquor prices, St Martin and Martinique for perfumes.
