I tried finding the answer on carnival's site but only found info on spa suites but what is carnival's smoking policy? we have a balcony- will we be bothered by other's smoking? resturants? ect

Smoking is allowed in all cabins and balconies except the new spa cabins. Smoking is usually allowed on one side of the outside decks, the casino, cigar bar, piano bar, some other bars. Smoking is not allowed anywhere there is food or in the large showrooms or atrium bar or promenade walkways, etc. If you have smokers on either side of you, you could be bothered by their smoke on your balcony.

You should have seen the answer to that in your spa suite research. They are the only nonsmoking staterooms.

You will find the allowed smoking area's in your capers, it's printed and delivered daily to your cabin.

 

Yes people can smoke on the balconies, in their cabins and selected bars and the casino. Also the Lido deck port side..

You will be fine...there aren't that many places for the smokers to smoke....

You could have a smoker next to your stateroom and could get the smell an sights of smoke.... but then again you may not.... Bottom line is that smoking is allowed in staterooms and on balconies...

 

Restaurants...... Nope.... Showrooms.... Nope.......Casino....YEP

 

If smoking is of huge concern to you, you may want to consider sailing with Celebrity in the future....talk about a strict smoking restriction no smoking in staterooms -or- on balconies and very limited areas on the open decks !! :eek:

No, however whatever they use to clean them, if anyone previously smoked in the cabin, you won't smell it. After four cruises on Carnival, I've never smelled the trace of smoke in any of my cabins. (And I have had to change hotel rooms because of traces of smoke in the rooms but no problem on the ship.)

This is true. Although we didn't smell it when we arrived in our cabin on the Elation.......we smelled it all week. Evidently we had chain smokers on both sides:cool:

They do a terrific job with the cleaning all over the ship. I don't know what they use to get the smell out, but they do. I was surprised when visiting some of the smoking bars/lounges early in morning how fresh the air was.

Smoking policies may also vary a bit from ship to ship.

 

When we were on the Valor Winston's Cigar Bar was a non-smoking venue. :confused: I think they should change the name of that lounge! :D

 

The similar lounge on the Victory was smoking.

I'm even wondering how much of an issue it will be on balconies as there is usually a breeze to chase it all away. Unless of course you wind up directly down-wind from smoke :eek:

I have to disagree there. Most bars and casinos smelled like ashtrays to me at anytime......

Each ship I have benn on it was the starboard side.

 

I thought that was all ships.. :confused:

And even then, it is HIGHLY unlikely that your neighbor will be out chain-smoking for hours on end. First of all, they will likely only spend a fraction of their cruise on the balcony. With all the ports, meals, activities, sleep time, etc., most of their time will be spent elsewhere. And even when they are smoking on the balcony, moderately heavy smokers only smoke one to three cigarettes an hour. If each cigarette takes five minutes to smoke, that still means 45 minutes of every hour the neighbor is using the balcony will likely not be producing any smoke. The problem is if you have multiple smokers sharing a cabin and they stagger their smoking so there is SOMEBODY smoking on the veranda a lot of the time.

If you are looking for a nonsmoking cabin and balcony on a Carnival ship....currently that would only be the Splendor...however the Dream and Magic will also have Spa Cabins with these restrictions.

 

All Carnival ships have designated smoking areas that are fairly consistant ship to ship.

 

Designated smoking areas are the casino, disco, piano bar, sports bar, cover band lounge and 1/2 of Lido out by the pool.

 

The Splendor does not allow smoking anywhere on the Lido deck because 90% of it is considered "interior" (since they have a roof that they close).

 

I would avoid any of the Fantasy class ships. This class just is not set up to handle smoke well.

Non-Smoker here.

 

The only cabins safe from Smokers are the Spa Balcony Cabins. Any other cabin you can share the balconies with smokers. My aft balcony cabin was shared with Smokers on each side and when I went out there I got sick from the odor because they were out smoking when I was and its usually when we leave the port and I go out and take pictures.

 

The problem was that we had a AFT Balcony, there is no wind back there and a vacuum that is created so the smoke lingers right there.

 

Side of the ship balconies are better because there is aways constant wind blowing the smoke away when the ship is underway.

All the people that complained about having to walk thru to get to the dining room. Of course there are other ways to get to the dining room, but I guess the whiners didn't find them as convienent. :rolleyes:
