DrmnOfMaui Posted April 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2009 We are not big skaters, but do enjoy the occasional skating birthday party or Girl Scout event. I read somewhere that the skates were "plastic"? Is this true? The web site said that skates were "similar to what you would find at a rink". That would not be plastic! I don't know whether it's worth it to have the kids pack jeans to skate in, or if the rink is just too small and the skates really are not good. Just wondering if you enjoyed it when you did it! Not great, but if you are a novice and just want to play around for a bit it's probably worth bringing the jeans and socks! Yes, the rink is small. Happy cruising :)
Sue L Posted April 15, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2009 the boot is plastic the blade is metal, if that is what you are asking. It is fun to go to the show.
SailingDeanna Posted April 15, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2009 We loved it. The rink is small but fun. The skates were fine. It is true that they are not leather, but a hard plastic. But still easy to skate with. How often do you get to ice skate at sea? Bring the pants. You won't regret it.
danielbriere Posted April 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2009 I still wish they'd start a pickup game of hockey once every cruise.
