Glory 4/4-4/11

I'm back home, darn it! :(

3 of us (me) flew, 5 of us drove. We rented car from Avis at MCO. Fairly painless but did have to wait in line for about 20 min. Full size car and trunk not big enough for our luggage. Had to pile some in back seat and that was OK, until we picked up another rider... We picked up 1 of the 5 that drove, in Titusville, where they stayed the night, squeezed him into back seat and drove to Raddison.

Check in fairly easy. Room facing toward Convention Center, nothing to rave about. A place to lay your head for the night. Morning buffet, nothing to rave about. Since we had 2 vehicles, we piled all of us and all of our luggage in the vehicles and headed for the port around 11. Unloaded people and luggage. 2 of us drove back and parked one vehicle at the Raddison and took the other back to Avis and took Avis shuttle back to the port. Worked out pretty good that way. We were glad we did not HAVE TO take the Raddison shuttle as it looked very hectic.

We were onboard by noon I am guessing. It was extremely easy. BUT, my great nephew, did not have a birth certificate, it was misplaced and they let him on and never had a problem or issue with that the entire trip, thank God! Carnival said that he may not be able to get off in Mexico because of this but we asked at debarkation in Mexico and they said it was not a problem. The Mexican official, that is. So, I don’t know why or how we got away with this, but we did.

My first cruise was on the Conquest, second on Fascination and now Glory.

So, after roaming around a bit it all came back to me from being on the Conquest and I remembered where everything was located and how to get there, for the most part, so that was nice. But boy was it packed with people! Someone had mentioned you can always find a chair. That is NOT TRUE, at least on this cruise. It was jamb packed on the sea days, no chairs anywhere and you could hardly walk around some of the decks as so many people crammed chairs everywhere and anywhere. Not exaggerating. IT WAS SPRING BREAK so maybe that is why. There were tons of teenagers. My great nephews, 13-14 had a great time though and the kids didn't really bother me.

Loved the cruise, loved the ports of call. Cabin on deck 6 extended aft balcony, next to the wrap a round aft balcony. I am now an official member of the balcony club as I will never go back to a inside cabin. Deck 6, right above the Ebony Cabaret and we definitely got noise from it. Especially on family karaoke night. I was thinking, oh my, that band is not very good, haha, until I found out it was karaoke. Ended early though, around 10-11, didn’t keep us up or anything, just saying, you can hear the noise from there.

Food good, dinner in dining room 3-4 nights, room service, many times, buffet, not often, blah. Pizza couple times, hamburger, reuben, fish/chips, hit them all!

Casino…don’t want to talk about it!! Did hit a little on the 2 cent machines though, couple times. Ok, I’m talking about it! Don’t like that you cannot get money back out of the machine. If you put $20 in and you don’t spend it all you have to put it on your SS card then go to cashier to get the money. You don’t get cash back out of the machine, or a ticket. Spent it or apply to your SS card and get cash later from it if you have any left. Don’t like that!

I like to move from machine to machine and it is a pain to put card in, put pin in, blah blah blah. It is, however, extremely easy to charge to your SS card so if you have no will power, be careful out there, LOL!

Coz, 6 of us to Chankanaab Park. Snorkeling was ok. A couple of nice areas and the Jesus statue in water was pretty cool to see. It is hard getting in the water there and the waves can be a little rough for some people.

Belize: Overcast, thank goodness since it is normally 100 degrees there and 90% humidity.

Don’t recall anyone mentioning the way the ship zigs and zags on the way in and out to Belize. That was kind of wild as there is a lot of zigging and zagging. We did the River/Ruins tour and it was pretty cool! Saw manatees, monkeys, alligator, bats, termite nests in trees along the river. The ruins were disappointing because after our guide got through explaining the history, etc., we only had 20 minutes to explore! That was not even close to enough time and people were not happy about that but what ya gonna do? The bus ride was an adventure. Extremely bumpy and narrow roads for 10 miles or so. Was kind of fun though listening to people on the side of bus where cars/buses pass, scream. Good day overall!

Costa Maya: We liked Costa Maya. Man on man, what a job the hurricane did to the trees! It is so weird looking as they are all dead and white. And they are now having problems with fires. Saw helicopters dumping water on them. 2 of us (me) did the Mayan Winds Sail and Snorkel tour. Got a pic of me holding a sea urchin our guide brought up from the bottom. Snorkeling just ok for me. Although a Carnival camera guy was there and I saw myself on TV shore excursions!

The others wandered on their own, got a massage for $20 and found someone along beach to take them snorkeling for about $10-15…good deal and they had a lot of fun!

Nassau: Went to Atlantis for the first time. You really can’t see diddly without being a guest at the hotel, so that was kinda, um, boring. Lost money in casino.

I do wish I would have know about Cabbage Beach. We wandered over there and it was nice. Did not know there were chairs/umbrellas you can rent. They had banana boat rides, wave runners and parasailing.

Debarking was kind of a pain as usual. My nephews did self assist debark and were off the ship by 7:30 AM!! Could not believe that! We did not get off until 10:30! Not a big deal as our flight was not until 6PM. Waiting for Avis van for ½ hr. not fun. Tried to find a place to eat in Cape Canaveral area and good luck there! You can barely access the beach around there. We finally found a hotel with a Ron Jon Rest. attached, near the Jetty Park. Sat outside, listened to music, ate and headed to airport. The rest was just the waiting game. Got home and in bed at 9:30 PM.

Thanks for the review! I can't wait to go in August!

I see you went on the Altun Ha & River Wallace excursion. Were you able to book it ahead of time, or did you book it on the ship? We want to go on that one, but it's not listed when I look online.

Yes we booked it on Carnival web site ahead of time for $79 for the 8:15.

The 8:45 time was $99.00, go figure? But we ended up getting moved to 8:45 and didn't have to pay more.
