Riley's Mom Posted April 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 15, 2009 Can we take through the x-ray machine and as carry on luggage? Is it 20" or 18": I think what I have is 20" but it is not a big suitcase. Thanks, Carla
*Mach* Posted April 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2009 The Carnival FAQs say 24X16 with no length restriction... If it would fit through the X-Ray machine at the airport it'll work fine... Now, when I sailed on the Splendor there were no porters available and EVERYTHING went through the X-Ray machines regardless of size... :)

Riley's Mom Posted April 15, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted April 15, 2009 What happens if they say the cary on is too large? Do they have you go back to the curb and give your bag to a porter or do they take it off themselves at the xray machine area? Thanks again for the help. Familyforce6 Posted April 15, 2009 #5 Share Posted April 15, 2009 I am confused. If your carry on can be 24"x16", then why does my cooler that is being carried on have to be no bigger than 12"x12" to fit through the x-ray? My cooler is 14"x12" so I was very worried it would not fit.
Waterjunkie Posted April 15, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2009 I think that the rules change depending on the port (and the agent). I've sailed out of Galveston & Miami with my carry-on luggage and had no problem, but it was a different story in Tampa. The agent at the door insisted that my bag would not fit thru the x-ray machine and that it HAD to be checked. I had just flown in and had NO problem at the airport or on the airplane. I had to remove several items that were needed for a family reunion cocktail party that eve. and check the bag. Just be prepared.....and don't try to agrue with them. :)
