Haven't done it through RCCL, but did the same tour with Princess and really enjoyed it. Half of the tour was on a boat up the river. Our guide was great at spotting wildlife. At the half way point we stopped for lunch at a quaint riverfront restaurant that served a chicken/rice and beans dinner that was very good. Afterwards we boarded a bus to the ruins [the roads are bumpy]. It was a short walk from where the bus parked to where the ruins were. The guide also provided lots of details and history of the ruins and the people who built them. There is one that you can climb if you wish. It's a pretty cool view from the top.

The only thing I noticed on the river is that some tour boats weren't covered and it can get hot. Maybe someone who has done RCCL's version knows whether you'd have a covered boat, otherwise it was a great trip. Bring bug spray!
