Just back from Enchantment...so dissapointed....TO BE BACK!:p

Let me start by saying that the Enchantment is a gorgeous ship. I really was impressed with her. The art work is lovely as well as all the marble and décor. I was surprised as I have only cruised Disney and found the Wonder to be a fabulous ship. So I was very happy. Ok that said I will start from the beginning. Oh and the ship was decked out for Christmas…it was gorgeous! Poinsettias and Christmas trees everywhere. The trio playing in the Centrum was playing Christmas music.

We arrived Ft. Lauderdale at 5:00pm on Friday the 26th of November. I had arraigned for a local transport company to pick me and my 4 other family members up at the airport. I used Las Palmas Transport www.laspalmastransport.com I called them when we landed and by the time I came down to baggage claim, the Expedition was waiting for us. Our driver Mario loaded our luggage and we were on our way. On the way to the hotel Mario offered to stop by a liquor store so that we could buy some beer and wine for our trip (we easily brought on 1 case of beer and quite a bit of wine on board with no questions asked). One thing I must tell you all is that I wasn’t in FLL for more than a half and hour when I tripped over a median and fell face first onto the asphalt! Bruised both of my knees and sprained my wrist along with my pride! Ok enough of the klutz report. After our short stop Mario took us to our hotel. I had booked through Priceline and got the Holiday Inn Oceanside (999 Ft. Lauderdale Blvd.) for $50.00 per night. One suggestion, don’t stay here. Very dirty and in major need of renovations. The service was very bad also. Rude front desk person and we had to wait forever to get a room. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. One note, I am very easy going, but this was bad!

The pool area was nice enough and the gate leading to the street was very handy for shopping and put us within walking distance to a really fun eatery, the Blue Fish, so that was nice.

Ok we slept got up about 7:00 am and proceeded to get everything ready for the ship. We had a light breakfast by the pool and waited for our ride. It rained for about 3 minutes and then beautiful blue sky. Our ride was a little late, but that was ok. He was in a lot of traffic and was held up for about 20 minutes, so no problem (he called to let us know). We loaded our luggage and we were on our way to the port. I would strongly suggest a shuttle service if you have more than two people in your party. A taxi could cost quite a bit with all the stopping and starting and with the enormous amount of luggage. Our driver dropped us off in front of the baggage drop-off area and we unloaded and set out for the terminal. We walked in showed our proper documents and we were then escorted to the priority check-in line (we had a Junior Suite, 8526) were I might add, no one was waiting! We walked right on the ship (12:30). I was so happy with what my first impression! Enchantment was gorgeous and I was finally cruising!! Yee Haw! My family and I went straight to the Windjammer to eat lunch (which was great!) and then to see our staterooms. I couldn’t wait to slip my seapass card in the door and finally see the room I had booked almost a year prior. As I approached my door I was greeted my Werner from Hungary who would be my stateroom attendant for the duration of my cruise. He was great! What a nice person! I introduced myself and the rest of my family and from that moment on he remembered all of our names for the entire cruise. Every time he would see me he would say, “Good morning (evening, afternoon) Miss Kimberlie” He was so polite and accommodating. Along with Werner two of my family members were in another stateroom down the hall and had the pleasure of Noel from Nicaragua. Noel was wonderful also and always remembered my name too. I couldn’t get over it!

The stateroom was very nice. It had plenty of room and storage and the view was breathtaking! The bathroom was very nice with a large tub and shower. We had a large balcony with plenty of deck furniture to handle the three of us. We made a toast (I had ordered wine a couple months ago for both staterooms for the sail-away) and then went up for the muster drill. The drill was standard, the only complaint was that some of the passengers waited until the last minute (a suggestion, get to the drill, for the sake of the other passengers, on-time…don’t be disrespectful) to show-up so what would have taken 15-20 minutes lasted about 40 minutes. Now I am not complaining but when you have that big life jacket on and are crammed in tight lines with about 100 other people this got a little hot and claustrophobic. Ok enough of that.
