icing down the beer...

Recommended Posts

I know this has probably been covered somewhere sometime, but if we bring beer in our checked luggage and a collapsable cooler, will the steward confiscate our beer from the room? We are planning on giving him an extra tip to keep the cooler filled with ice to keep the beer cool but don't want to go thru the trouble if they will just take it from us.

I don't think so asmitty...I brought a large bottle of wine on my last cruise...and Deen brought me a large bucket for it to fit in...kept the ice coming everyday...and even brought a couple wine glasses. Never even asked.

I have never heard of a cabin steward taking away anyone's beer. I'm sure they relize they would never get a tip if they did so.

Just got off the AOS did the same thing you are planning to do with the collapsable cooler and beer. Our steward kept our cooler filled to the top with ice everyday! Just make sure you give them extra in their tip envelope.

We did the same thing and just gave our steward a tip at the beginning of the cruise and told him we would like the cooler filled with ice. Not only did he do that, when he saw there weren't too many cold ones left, he took some more out of the case that we had brought and iced them down for us as well! icon_biggrin.gif

We have reservations for 2/25 on the Brilliance of the Seas for 10 days. I made the reservations through RCCL and when I inquired about bringing beer on board with us, the reservation 'specialist' told me that was not allowed. If it is found in your luggage or you buy it at a local corner store, they will confiscate it and give it back to us the night before we leave. This shall be interesting.

tryan...it is one of those things...as long as you don't run on the ship screaming...I have booze in my bags...they look the other way. This has been my experience anyway.

Acutally, my husband wanted to go to a local market and get it after we check in on the ship. We did it in San Juan a few years ago without any problems. We bought the beer right in the terminal. I'm sure RCCL got a cut in the sales of the snacks, beer and pop sold there.

Thanks for the reply,

Judy

We brought 2 cases of beer on our last cruise in our checked luggage. I was just hoping they wouldn't blow up during the sometimes rough handleing! icon_eek.gif Everything got to our cabin in one piece and our stewart kept some on ice for us all week. icon_biggrin.gif

Like everyone says, just be descreet. icon_wink.gif
