Prices dropping June Dawn to Bermuda

I've never been subject to motion sickness except for one time on a charter fishing boat where the waves were bigger then the boat! :D And even then, I loved the ride...just got very, very sick the moment the boat stopped...go figure. LOL

 

Anyway, I'm not saying that you won't experience any motion. That's hard to say how much each person will feel. On our Sky sailing in January, the seas were as smooth as glass the entire time. Even my MIL who was on her first cruise (and worried about getting sick) couldn't believe we werre on a moving ship..she felt nothing. However, one night in the elevator, there was a teen girl who was absolutely green. She was alone and I asked her if she was okay and she said that she was on her way to the ships doctor as she'd been seasick since we left Miami. I didn't say it to her but I was thinking, "Honey, if this is making you sick, cruising isn't for you". My point is that the majority of people on that sailing didn't even notice the movement at all.

 

You can encounter rough seas, but honestly, if that happens, it's going to be rough everywhere. And if you are prone to motion sickness, where your cabin is won't make any difference.

 

Since you haven't been sick since a child, I would think that you will be just fine, no matter where your cabin is. So, I would still recommend the balcony cabin as opposed to the inside. Especially if you feel even the slightest bit nauseous, going out on the balcony and getting some fresh air, or even letting the balcony door stay open and letting air into the room can make a huge difference. I find the insides and the OV's to be rather stiffling with no available air.

 

I'd also recommend going to see your doctor prior to sailing and getting the ear patch. One of our family members suffers from seasickness and the patches work fantastic for him.

I too always got motion sickness as a kid and it still continues. I would not cruise without my meclazine (over the counter sea sick med). It is cheaper and better than Dramamine.

I tried the patch one cruise and it messed with my eye sight and made everything blurry. I won't use it any more.

 

If you were prone to sea sickness, I would not go on a cruise with out some kind of medicine.

So my husband and I just upgraded to balcony for our (first ever!) cruise to Bermuda on the Dawn 6/21. I think it's a steal for only $30 more per person. I'm a little nervous about the "Guarantee" situation. Has anyone ever done the GTY option and found out your cabin number ahead of time? The NCL consultant told me I may not know until the day of sailing. Is this really true?

 

Also the consultant listed all of the "balcony perks" for me:
