Rare skyking Posted April 22, 2009 #26 Share Posted April 22, 2009 WOW those are HUGE.....It will hold 372 people, that is 172 more than the standard 200 on other ships....NICE!
Loyal2RCCL Posted April 22, 2009 #27 Share Posted April 22, 2009 Great picture! Now how many of these will they have on board and where will they put them? Talk about an obstructed view!!! They'll be hanging in front of the Promenade deck.. so no more ocean views as you walk around the Promenade...:(
amybeth4 Posted April 23, 2009 #28 Share Posted April 23, 2009 Surely something this size should have a Muster Drill, and its own Lifeboats on the side lol
ahornb Posted April 23, 2009 #29 Share Posted April 23, 2009 If you go to the CEO's blog, you can see pictures of the inside. It's crazy! http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/chairmans-blog/?p=224#more-224 OP, can you make that picture big too?
Shoreline23 Posted April 23, 2009 #30 Share Posted April 23, 2009 From the Artist's renderings of the ship, it looks like there will be 18 of these lifeboats attached to the Oasis - 9 on each side. Don't forget there will also be other lifesaving inflatables included on the ship as well. If I remember correctly, the lifeboats will be hanging from the bottom of deck 6 but seen and accessible from deck 5. I also think because they are so large and wide, the lifeboats will protrude out from the side of the ship a little. I wonder how much time it takes to fill them with passengers as opposed to the lifeboats on the "smaller" ships like the Freedom and Voyager classes? Hobiecat01 Posted April 23, 2009 #32 Share Posted April 23, 2009 makes me feel quite safe. but they are life boats correct? Tenders are the ferry boats you take to get to shore. I don't imagine they use them for this? Amybeth4 is right... The Oasis will not use tenders at any port. That was one of the interesting facts along with the Oasis will only dock on the Starboard side. There was also some discussion a while back about the Allure and Oasis having some new fandangled, faster procedure/way/equipment to disembark us in each port. That is why Starboard side embark/debark only. Anyone heard anymore about that? Maybe a passenger catapult?:D ----------------------- Sea ya! TravelerThom Posted April 24, 2009 #34 Share Posted April 24, 2009 If you go to the CEO's blog, you can see pictures of the inside. It's crazy!http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/chairmans-blog/?p=224#more-224 OP, can you make that picture big too? Looking at the inside of the lifeboat picture - Can anyone tell me what those stands are? I'm guessing something associated with construction since they sure don't look like seats. And will one sit on the "floor" with your feet in the trough, or are the seats yet to be added?Amybeth4 is right... The Oasis will not use tenders at any port. There was also some discussion a while back about the Allure and Oasis having some new fandangled, faster procedure/way/equipment to disembark us in each port. That is why Starboard side embark/debark only. Anyone heard anymore about that? I thought every lifeboat had to be lowered to the water at least once a month to prove that it was in working order. If they always docked on the Starboard side how would they check the Starboard lifeboats?
