Which Alaska cruise with 9yo child

We're looking at doing a 7 night cruise with your 9yo in early September. We'd prefer a one way cruise so we can add on nights in Alaska either before or after. Any opinions on which cruiseline/ship would have a good kid's program, or ideas of who not to go on?

Thanks!

RCCI and Princess both have great kids programs on their AK itineraries. We cruised RCCI when our DD was eight and then did an extended family cruise the next year on Princess.

we are looking at booking a b2b on the Celebrity Millenium in late August, they will have less kids onboard but the price is right (about $2000 for the 4 of us (me, DW, DS6, DS4) for a balcony per week). We chose b2b as the incremental cost of flying back from Alaska put us fairly close to the cost of the second week onboard (never mind the hassle of a 12h+flying day) and there are direct (and cheap) flights from Ottawa to Vancouver.

Good point that the back to back might be close in cost to air fair. Unfortunately we're coming from CA so it doesn't make a difference for us on flight costs since we have to fly both ways.

We did the April Princess repositioning cruise a few years ago and the kids club was empty! A total of about 40 kids in the whole boat. DD loved that they could do what they wanted in the kids program and most of the time they let her move up since the 3-7yo group had only 3 and 4yo kids. At 7 she was way above them and fit in much better with the 8-11yo kids. Her next cruise had over 250 kids and was a huge shock to her to have to take turns on the video games. LOL
