vtoria98 Posted May 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 1, 2009 Hello, I am helping a friend who is Military with their Wedding Cruise on the Glory in Sept. He and the fiance are both Military and are wondering if which type of Insurance they should get. I looked at the one site that will give you quotes for many different companies but did not see any that cover not being able to get Leave or getting Deployed unexpectedly. So I guess what I am asking is if there is anyone that has had this situation what type of insuance did you end up getting? Any help would be appreciated. lady_cruiser Posted May 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 1, 2009 How wonderful you are to help your friends who are in the military. I think your best bet is to call Carnival's customer service and get an answer from them. That way you know you will get the correct information that you need. And all it will cost you is a few minutes of your time.
beccadoby Posted May 1, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 1, 2009 DH is also active duty. We cruise often and have only worried about getting insurance to cover him once. This was when he was coming home from Iraq and the date kept changing. So I started looking for insurance that would cover him just in case. This was 2 years ago and I never found one that would cover such a thing. Maybe there is one now. PS- if he is stateside then I would not worry. The reason we are never worried is because since DH is going out of the country on the cruise, it HAS to be approved at least 60 days prior. Its priorty over regular leave where he would stay inside the country. At least thats how the Army works. Not sure which branch your friend is with. But I woudl advise him to go in and ask how far in advance his out of the country leave would be approved.

We are military and we use USAA, ask them if they have a membership with USAA and even if they don't they can sign up for free :) We use them for trip insurance and also for car rentals when we fly in the day before. *Mach* Posted May 1, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 1, 2009 There are several companies that offer insurance that will allow a 'Cancel for Any Reason' rider... It's not cheap but I suspect it would be worth it... Google that or include it in your normal search qualifiers... Here's one... http://www.travelinsure.com/why/tripcancellation.asp :)
