Good family resorts in FLA b4 or after cruise?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good family resort in Florida for before or after a cruise -- maybe 3 or 4 days. Current plan is Fascination out of Jax, so maybe something within 3 hours drive or so of that would be good.

 

We'd also consider Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale, or Miami. Don't think we want to do disney on this trip -- although WDW Vero Beach looks like it might be fun. But Jacksonville area (or thereabouts) is the first choice.

 

Water slides, kids activities, and maybe something not too remote would be perfect.

Universal Studios in Orlando is awesome. Plus that will be the homeport for the Dream. You can kill two birds with one stone. Btw, Port Canaveral is an amazing port.

I highly recommend Amelia Island if you don't want to do Disney.

You can also look for places in St. Augustine. It is a fun area and a little bit cheaper then Amelia Island. If you are looking for theme parks or water parks then Orlando is obviously the place to go.
