Thomson Destiny / Mediterranean Renaissance - Advise

Hi all

 

We are new to this forum (and new to cruising), After having 6 years worth of Caribbean we fancy a change so though of a cruise.

 

Now it is a bit last minute but we are looking at booking the Mediterranean Renaissance on 14th May this year, Living in easy Yorkshire we can either fly from Humberside (flight leaves 14:00 uk time) or manchester (flight at 06:00 uk).

 

I guess that if he go from humberside we will loose the oppotunity to have any time in palma and guess we go stright from the airport to the ship. My question is, is it better to take the early flight and have time in palma.

 

Also anyone who has been on this ship and cruise if you have any helpful tips, advise or views it would be great to hear them.

Theres always the doncaster flight too leaves at 06.25, plus it departs at 19.00 giving you time to do trips on the last day

thanks, Had a look ast doncaster, then found that east mid was a good flight (07:30 depature) and £40 cheaper than doncaster :-)

Hi,

We're doing that one next year as a 2 week cruise combined with Moorish delights.

We don't half get ripped off (not just by Thomsons) for living away from London.

We fly from Manchester and when you put there in as airport the price goes up by £100.

Personally we always like to get an early flight, on ship by lunchtime, relax a bit, maybe have a nap ready for the night ahead and even pop into Palma. If you do get an early flight be sure to rest in afternoon so you can enjoy the evenings entertainment- late sail away party, lots of fun and you will be woken early next day 10.00 for lifeboat drill which is compulsory for everyone. Med rennaisance lovely itenery, first day at sea crossing to Villefranche which can sometimes be a bit choppy. I am sure you will have a wonderful cruise though- excellent service, food, entertainment on Thomson ships, Enjoy

This we have finally decided to book this flying from east midlands (nice and easy to get to from e.yorkshire) Just need to make sure i can get the time off work

Just to say we are also cruising on Destiny on the 14th May. We are doing the 2 weeks.

 

Its our first cruise with thomsons, really looking forward to it.

Pay the £35 to book a cabin. We were allocated 2202 and the vibration and noise was horrendous. Book a cabin mid-ship if possible. It will be well worth it to have a nights sleep.

The destiny is a brilliant ship

It caters for everyone Young and old Party goers and quiet types like us.

the cabins aren't great but the ship is so good I'd go on it again anytime

Hi to all. looking for info on cost of transfers on this cruise. Thinking about Civittavechia to Rome in particular, but would appreciate some feedback on Palamos to Barcelona and Marina De Carrera for Florence/Pisa also. 1st timer so looking forward to the trip.
