gtlovell Posted May 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2009 We will be in Corfu in June and are looking to explore Corfu on our own. What is the best sight we should see? Are the beaches easy to get to? And are they free? There is a shore ex through our ship to one of the beaches by a hotel; looks like we would get 4 hours. Thanks! Everyone's posts on Western Med have been very helpful! itsjb1 Posted May 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2009 In 2004 we wnet to Glyfada beach. The beach is free and you can rent chairs etc. There are also several restaurants. We took a cab, so can't comment on how easy it is to find, but we didi notice signs. Some staff on the ship suggested Glyfada as a beach that is better than the one that was offered as a shore excursion.
justin908090 Posted May 7, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Hi! How much was the taxi ride you took? Do you know of any public transport going to Glyfada beach?
itsjb1 Posted May 7, 2009 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2009 Hi! How much was the taxi ride you took? Do you know of any public transport going to Glyfada beach? It was 2004, so not sure that the price then is relevant today. We took a cab and made arrangements for the cab to pick us up at a set time. We did not pay until we got back to the port. KT32 Posted May 8, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 8, 2009 There's also a nice beach at Paleokastritsa that we liked better than Glyfada. You can rent a car at the port or arrange a price for a taxi. The bus also goes there, but you'd have to do some digging about times/routes.
Rare taxatty Posted May 8, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 8, 2009 We had a nice time at Paleokastritsa, which was an easy drive in a rental car. A narrow small beach, but with beautiful, nice protected water for swimming. Les
