Kathy,

Can you tell me exactly how you broke your thumb? We will be traveling to San Juan in July and the Segway tour was one of our choices. However after reading your post we have a few individuals that want to chicken out.

I tripped on a piece of concrete. Not one of my more graceful moves.

The Segway Tour was wonderful. NO problems there at all.

It depends on what category you are purchasing. If inside, then very likely it will be an obstructed view (very obstructed). I don't think there are any ocean view or balcony cabins with an obstructed view. The forward facing cabins do have an obstructed view, but they are cat 4, which is an inside category, and you would expect an inside cabin to be obstructed. The lifeboats are not outside any cabins. So on this ship, if you book an ocean view or balcony cabin guarantee, I don't think you can end up with an obstructed view.

Here is a picture of a forward facing cabin ...

Oh, that would be great, cabin number is 7425.

Yeah, I am afraid of that! :) Glad to hear it, DH was a little hesitant but we do use the balcony every evening for sail away.

Hey, there is a poster "Havinsnest" doing a great review of Victory from May 16-23 you should check out if you have not done so--it appears they had cabin 7425!

A link to her first review page--see post #8-has cabin photos. I am just starting to read her review- it is not all one post so have to look for pieces. She has a great way of writing, and photos to match.

Why thank you. :D I'm glad you enjoyed it.

We booked cabin 7425 in March 2009. It was our first aft wrap experience but it won't be our last. We LOVED it.

What are they doing in San Juan about bringing liquor on the Victory?

We sailed in Feb, so this might or might not work for you. They had started taking the booze from the carry-ons the month or so before we sailed. We stopped at the duty free liqour store on the secound floor after we had done our check in and were waiting to board. Talked to the guy in the store and he confirmed that they were taking all the booze from the carryons. He told us to put our bottles in a bag with a few other things and go back downstairs and give to one of the guys doing the scanning for checked luggage and tip them. We did as he said and it was the first bag delivered to our room with all bottles inside.

is there a late night buffet with desserts etc on victory?

no sure is they still do a have not seen anything about it lately

was on Victory in March and they did not have the late night dessert buffet, as a matter of fact...after the dinner buffet was over, not much at all was available to eat unless you ordered room service....after a few nights, eating pizza was getting old.

I carried 2 bottles of booze in a brown paper bag onto the ship....no one said a word to me & that was just after they anounced how strict they were in San Juan, of course the difference could have been that i was VIP, ws the very first person on the ship & escorted onto the ship by a Carnival rep. because they ran out of Platinum S&S cards at the counter and had to get me onto the ship to have one made for me.

What a great thread, just read it all ... we booked this cruise for Feb. 6, 2011 ... have already paid for the airfare and booked our 1 day pre and 1 day post hotels (2 different ones) ... prob. not the best but it's on the beach and I only plan on sleeping / showering in it. Too much to see and do. Thanks for all the great pictures and advice.

We did this cruise the same week this year. If you have the same type of weather we did, you are in for a fantastic cruise. No rain whatsoever, temps in the 80's and low humidity. The nights on ship were perfect.

We will do this cruise again. We spent several days in Old San Juan pre-cruise and loved it.

This is a great itinerary, ejoyed myself so much I signed up for next year a week after getting home:D

St. Thomas - last year did Carnival St. John island tour, great pictures and a beautiful island but wouldn't do again. This year Papa Bear Island tour then Capt. Nautica snorkel (since we lost Dominica which I loved, decided to get busy on this day)

Barbados; Silvermoon 24 person catamaran, enjoyed very much but went with smaller group 12 per Calabeza snorkel with turtles for this year, very excited to try this, loved the catamaran and snorkeling with turtles, very cool.

St. Lucia: Cosal last time and really enjoyed it and only changed to try a different perspective. Luckily someone in our rollcall started a call for Herod's tour and we are doing it next year, he needs 12 people but everyone seems to love his tour.

St. Kitts: last year Rose & Jim's taxi, island tour and very pleasant. This year I think I will try to get to Clay Villa, hoping their tours will have some people sign up and if not taxi there to visit the grounds, good reviews on trip advisor and I got some greats photo's of plant life I've never seen on the other islands at the Batik factory grounds, hoping to get more.

St. Maarten; Capt Alan 3 island snorkel last year and it was so fun I'm doing it again this year.

San Juan did the segway last yearand absolutely loved it, signed up to do it again also alot of money for two hours(about $95) but incredibly fun. Hoping to do the Biobay tour as I managed to end up there on a perfect night, rental car signed up for and trying to work up the courage to drive/park at night in San juan:rolleyes:

You'll have a great time, nice to see this thread coming back up.

Nan

Just came back from a cruise on the Victory October 17th to the 24th for our 15th wedding anniversary. I won't write a long review here cause i have already done that under reviews so here is the link. http://www.cruisecritic.com/memberreviews/memberreview.cfm?EntryID=74054.

Everything about the cruise was wonderful including the ship, its staff and the island excursions. We had only some minor complaints. I have also created a slide show of the pictures here.
