question for teens on cruises

This may seem like a silly question but bear with me. So I'm going on a cruise May 22 on the Explorer (anyone else?!) and this will be my first time cruising without my friend going. I'm going to be 19 then, and I'm just wondering how everyone else meets others around this age. I'm not a fan of dancing so the dancing scene is out for me. And this will be the first year that I won't go to meet people at the teen activities. You'd think by my 9th cruise I'd have this figured out, guess not! lol

Thanks for any information!

I don't know whether your shy etc but maybe just go to the bars and talk to people, just in the lift, talk to people!

I'm 17 and didn't go to any of the kids clubs, I just spoke to people and always had someone to talk to! They were sometimes a few years older or younger than me, but it was still someone :) I found everyone to be friendly!! The only unfortunate thing for me was, is everyone I made friends with went home after one week and I had to start all over again!

Thats the only thin I can really think of!

As a mother of a 19 year old female who has always cruised without a friend and did not attend the teen activities, I hope you don't mind that I give some advice.

As the other poster said, just speak to people. Ask what they are doing that night and if you can hang out together. My daughter is a little quiet when it comes to strangers, but she never seems to have a hard time finding people to hang out with. Usually, they come up to her and ask her to hang with them. Make yourself seen, don't hang out in your stateroom and then pop out at night. Go to the pool, the rock climbing wall and the basketball court (that's where a lot of the kids hang out...especially the guys.) On our last cruise, my DH met a guy while she was walking through the casino and he was playing. He was with his family, and on college break. They have stayed in touch this semester.
