jhdoublin Posted May 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 8, 2009 My 16 month old sleeps with a fan at home - I need a sound machine that stays on until you turn it off. Or would they have a fan to let me borrow?;)
SaySumthing Posted May 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2009 We have one of these. Works great. Pretty packable. Would say that it is about the size of a pack of CDRs (recordable CDs like you buy at an office supply store). You may be able to borrow a fan, but I wouldn't count on it. crusinmama06 Posted May 8, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2009 We have a cheaper sound machine from Target, it was Homedics. http://www.amazon.com/HoMedics-SS-2000-Relaxation-Machine-Nature/dp/B000F3QG0U My 9 year old sleeps with it. And my 5 year old sleeps with a fan. But on the ship, they are so exhausted at the end of the night, they don't need anything to get them to sleep. I think it's the gentle rocking. It even makes me sleepy. :D

I can't ever seem to find them:rolleyes: It' s the drowning out of the noise from others that we will need. He is such a light sleeper- you can't even sneeze or cough!! I will look at target - I need one asap. Thanks

crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 11, 2009 The one I have from Target has a setting to keep it on all the time or set it for 30, 60, 90 minutes. It's listed under Bed/Bath at Target Online so you might want to call your local store and see if they carry it. This is the exact one I have... http://www.target.com/HoMedics-Sound-SPA-Relaxation-Machine/dp/B0009Y2E42/sr=1-1/qid=1242065552/ref=sr_1_1/184-1864453-3820136?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=0&index=target&rh=k%3Ahomedics%20sound%20machine&page=
jittey3 Posted May 11, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Does this one stay on all the time or does it automatically shut off? I have one very similar to that one. It's probably just an older model. Both my daughter and I use it. We love it! We take everywhere we travel. It stays on all night until I turn it off. It may have an automatic shut off, but I'm not sure. crusinmama06 Posted May 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 11, 2009 Sorry, I was wrong about the time shut offs - it says "includes 15, 30 or 60 minute auto-off timer"
jhdoublin Posted May 11, 2009 Author #9 Share Posted May 11, 2009 I think I found the same one at wal-mart for 19.88! So I will be heading there in a bit because I don't have time for shipping. Thanks!
HexMermaid Posted May 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 14, 2009 We have a Marpac Sound machine that is very portable and stays on all night until you turn it off. They are about $50 on Amazon but worth every penny in my opinion!
lisascott207 Posted May 18, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 18, 2009 I have one for DS who is 16 MO. It is from Babies R Us and stays on all night or you can set the time. I think it was around $20. We used it on our cruise and were glad that we brought it especially during naptime since people were talking down the hallways and DS is a light sleeper.
