winncove Posted May 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 4, 2004 I posted this in part of a reply earlier but afraid it'll be missed. Using a Pre Cruise pkg and narrowed to 2 choices [final biggie of the trip]. Has anyone stayed @ Quality Suites, which in the pkg you get a standard rm, and it's part of the Radisson co. ? 8/29 Mariner
luvinit Posted May 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Yes we have stayed at the Quality in Coco Beach, near the Port it was fine. No it is not part of the Radisson chain, its part of the Comfort Inn, Quality, Econo Lodge,...etc there is a few more but you get the jest. You can look at it on the web site...I think its comfortinn.com. We are staying at the comfort inn this time...it was cheaper, and it seemed just as okay. garnetjanet Posted May 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 4, 2004 winncove, We are going 2 weeks before you on the Mariner. We are staying at the Quality Suites. We have not stayed at the one in Port Canaveral before, but thought it looked nice. We have stayed at other Quality Suites before and liked them. I was very impressed with them when I called to inquire about our reservation and the changes to the complimentary breakfast menu. Enjoy. winncove Posted May 4, 2004 Author #4 Share Posted May 4, 2004 Thanks for the asap replies. Making my reservation now! What's the change in menu? I found "hot buffet breakfast". Doesn't really matter since we'll be on our way to a pig out week anyway! For me tonite the Comfort was $99 w/free cocktail and Quality $88 w/buffet. Both w/free parking & shuttles, of course. [I thought I saw a Radisson logo on their site.] Let me know how your week on the Mariner went. the reviews keep getting better & better, except for Johnny Rockets, and that's no biggie for me! 8/29 Mariner
rebecca1 Posted May 4, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2004 We are booked at the Quality Suites for our cruise on the Mariner in Dec. We got an internet rate on their website for $80 and it includes the parking and shuttle. I think they are connected to the Radisson in that they are owned by the same people. I have heard that even the free parking and shuttle are from the Radisson. The Radisson is on the way to the port anyway so it doesn't matter much to me. When I called about the breakfast they said it was a traditional continental breakfast with pastries and hard boiled eggs. It is fairly new and that's the main reason I picked it over the Comfort Suites.
FnyFACEnAL Posted May 5, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 5, 2004 We stayed at the Quality Inn and Suites in Cocoa Beach and it is very nice, no pool but an indoor hot tub and within walking distance of the beach. This property is owned by the same person that owns the Radisson and, therefore, when you check in, the Quality Inn calls the Radisson and arranges your shuttle to the port. The day of the cruise you drive to the Radisson and your name is on the shuttle manifest. Oh, this is an all suite property which is wonderful. Livingroom and bedroom, two TV's, microwave, frig, sink etc. Ron Jon Surf Shop is a block from the property. Happy Sailing!
Sailfish Posted May 5, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Here is information concerning pre-cruise hotel packages offered by Royal Caribbean. I contacted RCI this morning and was told prices are not yet available for our sail date, however, the gal I spoke to said she would give me what was available for 2004 sail dates. I am interested in this information and thought others might be as well, as we have yet to make arrangements for our pre-cruise stay in February. I reserved a room at the Orlando Airport Days Inn for $39 in the event I don't find something that works out better for us. No credit card was required and I thought, "what the heck, I have nothing to lose." They provide a free airport shuttle and as long as you are okay with going back to the airport the next morning to take the cruise line's bus to the port ($38pp rt transfers), it seemed like an okay deal. But I was also interested what Royal Caribbean had to say. For starters, they said they use only hotels in Orlando for their pre-cruise hotel night stay; none in Coco Beach or near Port Canaveral. The price includes one-way (only) transfers to Port Canaveral the next morning, meaning you have to pay extra to take the bus back after the cruise. The Orlando Double Tree Hotel at Universal Studios is $52pp http://www.doubletree.com/en/dt/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=0IK3DTUSYIS1SCSGBIW2VCQKIYFCVUUC?ctyhocn=MCOUNDT The Disney World Hilton is $79 http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/hotels/index.jhtml;jsessionid=LDOMSAAFMEMZWCSGBIVMVCQKIYFC3UUC?ctyhocn=ORLDWHH The Caribe Royale, an all suites hotel is $85pp http://www.cariberoyale.com/ As stated earlier, transfers to and from the airport to port Canaveral will run you $38pp. The agent said if you book a pre-cruise hotel package through Royal Caribbean, it will be your reponsibility to get to the hotel from the airport, as only one-way transfers to the port is provided. I don't know if any of these hotels have airport shuttles, but I have a hunch they probably do not. The Days Inn, so far seems to be our best option if indeed we spend our first night in Orlando, as it's only $39 for both of us. Round trip transfers are an additional $38, meaning this will cover our trip back to Orlando Airport after the cruise as well. I asked if the cruise line EVER offers hotels near the port, and their answer was NO. Go figure.
