Hi,

My wife and I and our 2 yr old daughter will be cruising to LA this fall in Sept. We would like some inputs on where to stay in San Deigo for 4 nights, preferences are:

- kids friendly area (we would rent a car and drive down from LA. However, we would like to based in a rather "central" area that allow us to take small multiple trips for sightseeing while not exhausting our daughter)

- 3.5 to 4* (will use priceline bidding if possible, but not necessarily)

- parking included or at least at a reasonable cost

- desirable ammenties: kitchen or breakfast included

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

With those needs, I would focus on all-suite/residential type hotels in the Mission Valley/Hotel Circle area (Executive Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Homestead, etc.) since these are likely to have two adjoining rooms with a living room and small kitchenette available, or at least a bedroom and living room/kitchen combo with a sofa bed.

Mission Valley is easy to get to, has ready and easy freeway access, is only a couple of miles from the Zoo, SeaWorld, Old Town, and only a few miles more to the beach and to the cruise ship pier. You are much more likely to get free parking there than in a downtown hotel, which it would be very rare to have either a free breakfast or a kitchenette.

Consider taking your daughter to Legoland in Carlsbad. It really is geared toward younger kids and my kids loved going there when they were little. You can easily drive there while staying in San Diego or stop there on the way down. The outlet stores nearby are also great shopping!
