bklynangel Posted May 12, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2009 I have booked a cruise to Canada and I was wondering if anyone can tell me whats to do there? Can you go on your own to explore? Do I need to book a tour?
nybumpkin Posted May 12, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2009 I'm assuming you've booked one of the 4-day cruises that goes to Saint John N.B. We've visited Saint John three times and each time we've done our own walking tours around town. Downtown, there are several parks, some museums, and the City Market, an indoor market dating from the later 1800s with lots of food and crafts. Harbour Passage is a walkway around the harbor and gives you great views. If you're up to it, you can walk to the Reversing Rapids using the Harbour Passage - but it's about a 2-mile walk and once you leave the Harbour Passage you're walking along a busy road uphill. There are a number of very good restaurants within a short walk of the pier. The local folks are some of the friendliest people we've met on a cruise - we've always enjoyed our visits. If you go over to the "Canada" board under "Ports of Call," there are two CC members from Saint John - Acey and Sapper1 - who post lots of ideas about things to see and do in Saint John and the surrounding area. thomarvin Posted May 12, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2009 We did a tour. It was a good way to see alot. I would recommend it. We were still back in time to do some stuff around the port. Have fun.
