highlights of Cairo/Giza

I would be interested to know which one day tour ideas from Alexandria to avoid/ and which places are WOW, a must see in the short period we are there.

Must see places:

1. Giza - Pyramids and Sphinx

2. Egyptian Museum

3. Saqqara

This is so hard with only one day available. If your ship is in port for two days, you really must do the overnight.

 

If you only have the one day, then of course the Great Pyramids/Sphinx are a must. Usually the tour will offer one other option along with them.

 

If you like museums than the Egyptian Museum is one of the world's greatest. The Mummy Room is absolutely awesome.

 

The Old Cairo section of the city is also very interesting. The mosques are amazing and well worth a visit.

 

The option of a lunch cruise on the Nile is not something I think is very interesting, but if you want to relax and say you have been on the Nile it suits some people.

 

The Step Pyramid at Saqqara is fascinating and well worth seeing in contrast to the Great Pyramids.

 

Sadly you can usually only fit in one of the options after the Great Pyramids.

 

Many people are very happy with independent tours in Egypt. This board will give many recommendations. This allows you to maximize your time and select the things YOU particularly want to see.
