CincinnatiGal Posted May 24, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2009 I would love to hear how the fishing is this year so far for Icy Straits and the Seward area. Are the King Salmon running and biting yet? How about Halibut fishing in Seward --any tips for landing the "BIG ONE". We are traveling to Alaska on the June 5 sailing of the Radiance of the Seas and have two charters in Icy Straits and in Seward booked. CincinnatiGal The fish haven't started arriving yet in any significant numbers. You are VERY early to fish for Kings. Usually show up about June 10 from Seward north. CincinnatiGal If you are there at that time, you need to get north to the Kenai or Russian rivers. Soldotna area is one of the PRIME King Salmon areas. DH fishes there every year for Kings.
