We are cruising to Alaska for our first time and we were wondering if the classic "drink of the day" we experienced on the caribbean cruises was true for Alaska also.:D If so, what kinds of drinks? Are they hot drinks? What kind of prices? Love the hot chocolate they will serve!! Just wondering how the different lines and port areas differ.

Thanks to all for extending your knowledge!!

Just finished an Alaska cruise on the Zuiderdam :( and yes they had "drink of the day" for $5.50 each.

Day 1 Twilight Zone

Day 2 Alaskan Iced Tea

Day 3 Ice Kool Aid

Day 4 Glacier Blue Martini

Day 5 Artic Kiss

Day 6 Grizzly Bear

Day 7 Klondike Cooler

They also offered a daily happy hour 2 for 1 special at various bars between 4 & 5 pm.

Thank you for the reply! They sure know how to come up with intriguing names! We will have to try some of those!:p Has anyone ordered the drink card? And was it worth it? How about the wine package? Really like the idea of being able to get a 20 pop card and able to share it. (Much better than the all you can drink pop.) Do they have bottled water onboard?

Thanks in advance! Getting closer to the cruise and DREAMING of the beautiful areas we will see!

Wow...never read where Carnival has any two for one specials....that would be great!! Also, I think Carnivals drinks run more to $6.75 and up....I am getting drink coupons with money I have saved in jars for the last year!!

We didn't order a drink card or wine package. However, we did buy the 10 pour wine card for $41.40 which includes the 15% tip (20 pour also available for $77.63). This card is good for your choice from 2 house reds and 2 house whites, at the dining room or any bar. The house wines were decent and the advantages of the wine card were you can use them throughout the ship (where an unfinished bottle is only available at the dining room) and the card can be shared with other people. We were under the impression you could purchase the wine card at the dining room, but that was not the case......so if you're interested, buy it at a bar before dinner.

Expensive bottled water is available, but the Lido water and tap water was more than acceptable for drinking.

Regarding soft drinks.....you can bring you own aboard for a lot less :)

When we were on the Volendam 2 yrs. ago, they also had a drink called a Glacier Drop ( Blue Curacao, Vodka, and Sour mix) Yummy!! Had one every night at dinner!! By the second night, the bar steward who was taking drink orders stopped at our table and asked "And would you like a Glacier Drop this evening?":D Of course I said yes!! You can find the recipe on the Holland America website where they also have some of the recipes of appetizers, entrees and desserts.
