Carnival general questions

its been a while since I was on carinval.. we have taken 2 RCL curises in the last 2 years and had some questions about Carnival to compare to RCL.

1. Does Carnival give cash against your onboard card at the casino cashier? if so do they charge any % on top of the advance? and does it show as cash advance on your credit card as a seperate charge vs the regular onboardl charges.

2. from my last cruise on Carnival back in 2001 the food in the regular buffet was really bad!... RCL was better but has Carnival's buffet improved and how would you compare it to RCL for those who have sailed on both Carnival and RCL recently?

3. I heard that some curise lines might start not allowing you to order more than one entree or appetizer in the regular dining room? Has carnival started doing this?

4. how much are drinks on Carnival?

5. looking at going on the Freedom in Sept 09 and was wondering if they have any texas holdem live dealer games? cash game, tournaments or casino version against house

6. see that Freedom has an outisde giant TV screen.. so they run movies on that during the day? does the sun effect/wash it out? also do they run movies at night?

7. on Freedom, the beds...are they 2 twin beds that you have to push together to make a full sized bed OR are they already together?

8. how many premium restaurants do they have on Freedom?

thanks

Stan

RCL was better but has Carnival's buffet improved and how would you compare it to RCL for those who have sailed on both Carnival and RCL recently? I have no issues with the food but I am not a foody

3. I heard that some curise lines might start not allowing you to order more than one entree or appetizer in the regular dining room? Has carnival started doing this? No, you can order as much as you want

4. how much are drinks on Carnival? From $5.00 up, depending what you drink

5. looking at going on the Freedom in Sept 09 and was wondering if they have any texas holdem live dealer games? cash game, tournaments or casino version against houseElectronic tables

6. see that Freedom has an outisde giant TV screen.. so they run movies on that during the day? does the sun effect/wash it out? also do they run movies at night?Usually news and music during the day and movies at night

7. on Freedom, the beds...are they 2 twin beds that you have to push together to make a full sized bed OR are they already together? Two twins pushed together

Yes, Carnival will give you cash against your card in the casino. I dont believe they have yet implemented a charge.

Most believe Carnival's food to be better than RCL's, but you dont seem to like either, so its hard to predict. I liked food on both, some things are a little better on one, like I love the promenade cafe and grabbing pizza and cookies there, but the food in the dining room on Carnival was good and changes at lunch every day. RCL has the same lunch menu all week in the dining room.

I hated the big screen on Conquest, saw it for the first time a few weeks ago. The pool band was blasted really really lound in the afternoon. The movies are late afternoon and in the evening. Early morning was CNN or infomercials about Carnival, like a show at night rerun on tv, run on the big screen or debarkation talk.

Not sure, I'll leave this for somebody else to answer.

On my last cruise May of this year on the Fascination there was no problem ordering multiple items.

4. how much are drinks on Carnival?

Might be slightly higher but http://unofficialcarnivalwiki.com/wiki/Bar_Menu should give you a good baseline.

5. looking at going on the Freedom in Sept 09 and was wondering if they have any texas holdem live dealer games? cash game, tournaments or casino version against house

It is an electronic system. (http://www.pokertek.com/pokerpro.html)

Don't recall if they ran movie during daylight hours. Most of the day it was a concert or "screen saver" This is a picture taken during the day.

7. on Freedom, the beds...are they 2 twin beds that you have to push together to make a full sized bed OR are they already together?

2 beds that make a full sized bed. They may or may not be already pushed together. Just tell them on the first day how you want the beds done.

8. how many premium restaurants do they have on Freedom?

Just one called Sun King, referred to as the Supper Club.
