Sorrento and Amalfi Coast v Capri

Tripgy

Recommended Posts

I am going on P & O Ventura next month and am trying to decide on excursions. I am looking at the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento and the Isle of Capri but can't decide. Has anyone done these excursions with P & O and if so what are they like? Which is the nicer location?

MONACO:

Also the Monaco excursions - what is the difference between Monaco and Monte Carlo? I thought they were one and the same but there are separate excursions on the Ventura. Do you know where is preferable? Are the two places close to each other? Can anyone give any information on these places please?

I've done them both by land. Both have amazing scenery....pity you can't do both.

Monaco is the country and Monte Carlo is its capital city.

Hi,

Capri is absolutely beautiful but it will be heaving with people in July. However, if you do decide to do it you can easily get there yourself (at less than half the cost of a trip) by Hydrofoil. Not sure where you are docking but it's simple from Naples and easy from Sorrento

Re Monte Carlo, if you are docking in Villefranche it's simple to take the train to either Monte Carlo or Nice - fare is about 4 Euros

Have a wonderful time

We have done both.Difficult to choose Sorrento and Amalfi are very pleasant but like all resorts can be 'Touristy'.But none the less worthwhile. As for Capri this does involve a ferry ride .Capri itself is very Mountainous and like Sorrento/Amalfi can be expensive. It can also be cloudy so some views can be restricted. The Capri trip is quite A long day and I remember we literally ran to catch the ferry back to Naples. You may also wish to consider Pompeii as a trip.

For Monte Carlo read Monaco and for Monaco read Monte Carlo. Again expensive but lovely drive and some where I would love to return to.It is great to see the FI circuit . It gives you a real feel for the Race. You must have a go in the Casino. My wife won 34 Francs or was that Euros. Some incredible shops and great for people watching.:) PS If you do go to Monaco/Monte Carlo make sure you see Grace Kelly's resting place. For some reason it is quite moving.
